We are seeking 2-3 compassionate and dedicated Shelter Advocates to provide critical support to survivors of domestic violence. This role is responsible for engaging directly with clients, offering information and emotional support through the hotline, and assisting clients in achieving goals related to personal safety and self-sufficiency. The Shelter Advocate will also perform various shift tasks, including light cleaning, maintaining client rooms, and organizing donations. Hours include afternoon/evenings, overnights, and all-day weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

Respond to client needs by phone and in person, providing emotional support, information, and assistance in identifying resources. Work with clients to help meet identified needs and support their goals for safety and self-sufficiency. Perform shift-specific tasks such as cleaning, maintaining client rooms, and sorting and organizing donations. Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all shelter residents. Work collaboratively with other team members to maintain a welcoming and organized environment.

Requirements:

Ability to work on your feet for extended periods; this role is not a sit-down position. Comfortable with lifting, walking, navigating stairs, and pushing as part of daily tasks. Primarily available for evening shifts (4 pm-12 am) and some overnight shifts (12 am-8 am) 8-32 hours including weekends depending on staffing needs and your availability. This can be discussed during an interview. Must be able to work some holidays, with holiday pay provided for these shifts. Previous experience in social work, advocacy, or a related field is a plus but not required.
