Job Description
As a Resident Assistant you will provide support and aide to residents including but not limited to, daily ADL's, hygiene, meals, cleaning, activities and social and emotional support based on each resident's specific needs.
Responsibilities:
Help residents with daily living, including using the toilet, bathing, washing, dressing, laundry, cleaning, cooking, and serving food Provide physical assistance to residents who have limited mobility by helping them walk or transporting them in wheelchairs Help residents maintain independence, promote dignity and physical safety Engage residents in life enrichment activities Perform administrative tasks including but not limited to; answering phones, greeting visitors and completing documents of care Communicate effectively with residents and all staff using written and verbal communication using the English language Be able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously Be reliable and dependable, including but not limited to, attendance and punctuality Make decisions independent of supervisors as they relate to residents' safety and health Be kind and courteous when interacting with everyone, including residents, family members and all staff Communicate directly to all staff using verbal and written English language skills Possess a high degree of personal integrity. Display sincere compassion towards all residents Be able to recognize change in a resident's condition and report immediately to supervisor Be comfortable and able to handle frequent interruptions
Education and Experience:
Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school degree or equivalent Possess CBRF certifications verifiable through the Wisconsin Training Registry, preferred Previous experience working in adult family homes, a plus
Work Environment:
Work throughout the residential home, w ork is generally performed indoors in an environmentally controlled building Understand there is potential for exposure to infectious organisms, blood, other bodily fluids and hazardous waste materials Interaction with emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors at times
Requirements:
Able to stand and walk during 8-12-hour shift Able to push, pull, lift carry or slide up to 50 pounds as needed Able to kneel, bend, squat, climb, and reach multiple times per shift Reliable transportation Valid State ID or Driver's License Able to pass local and national criminal and caregiver background screens •Adult family homes provide 24-hour care to residents, at times resident assistants may be asked to work irregular hours. •Resident Assistants may be asked to work at more than one facility if needed over one shift.
