Job Description

Location:
Hannah Center Inc, Wisconsin Rapids Campus Reports To:
Campus Program Coordinator or designated supervisor
Status:
Full time, Part-time based on organizational needs
Starting Pay:
$12.25 - Weekend differential may apply
Schedule:
Weekends range from Friday 9 p.m. or Saturday 8 a.m. through Sunday 9 p.m. or Monday 8 a.m.. and possible holidays based on program needs. Advocate sleeping time is from 11 p.m. - 7 a.m. with exception of resident need. Position Summary The Resident Advocate provides on-site support, supervision, mentoring, and practical assistance to women and children residing at Hannah Center. This position helps maintain a safe, welcoming, structured, and nonjudgmental home environment while encouraging resident independence, accountability, and progress toward established goals. Resident Advocates support the implementation of Hannah Center programming but do not independently establish resident goals or make case-management decisions. Primary Responsibilities Resident Support & Program Accountability Build respectful relationships with residents and children while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality. Provide encouragement, mentoring, practical guidance, and accountability that promote independence and positive life change. Support residents in following established goals, schedules, household expectations, appointments, classes, and program commitments. Use appropriate communication, conflict-resolution, and de-escalation skills and refer significant concerns to the Campus Program Coordinator. Household Safety & Daily Operations Uphold Hannah Center policies, house expectations, and approved residential procedures consistently and fairly. Help maintain a safe, clean, orderly, and welcoming residential environment. Support household routines, including overseeing resident responsibilities such as Dinner preparation, chores, resident activities, and other assigned responsibilities. Remain attentive and available throughout assigned coverage and respond appropriately to safety, security, facility, or emergency concerns. Communication & Documentation Maintain accurate, objective, timely, and confidential resident and shift documentation. Promptly communicate significant resident concerns, incidents, safety issues, policy concerns, and household needs to appropriate staff. Provide clear communication and handoff information between shifts. Team & Mission Support Work cooperatively with the Campus Program Coordinator, other Resident Advocates, administrative staff, volunteers, and Hannah Center board members. Provide approved resident transportation and other practical assistance when assigned. Participate in required staff meetings, training, and coverage rotations. Represent Hannah Center with compassion, professionalism, dignity, and respect consistent with its Christian mission and values. Qualifications Commitment to Hannah Center's Christian mission and compassionate, life-affirming service. Dependable, trustworthy, emotionally steady, and able to exercise sound judgment with limited supervision. Strong interpersonal, listening, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries, confidentiality, fairness, and consistency. Ability to complete clear written and electronic documentation and working effectively as part of a team. Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and insurability. Ability to drive and transport residents as needed, including long distances when required. Successful completion of required background checks, orientation, and training. Working Requirements and Conditions Regular interaction with women and children experiencing crisis in a shared residential environment. Required to remain on site for assigned shifts, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Ability to go up and down stairs within the residence. Complete light household chores and responsibilities, including occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds.
Working conditions:
Resident Advocates have 100% accountability while on duty. Resident Advocates must be on-site when providing evening coverage, depending on the shift scheduled. Private sleeping quarters and meals with residents are provided.
