Responsibilities Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene. Support patients with mobility and transfer methods using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques. Monitor vital signs, observe patient conditions, and report changes to healthcare professionals promptly. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary. Administer medications following care plans and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Provide companionship and emotional support, especially for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's, or neurodevelopmental disorders. Maintain cleanliness of the client's home environment through light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and laundry. Assist with transportation for appointments, errands, or community activities to promote social engagement. Follow all safety protocols including first aid, CPR certification, and emergency response procedures. Document care activities accurately in accordance with agency policies and resident rights. Skills Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities, developmental or intellectual disabilities support, or senior care. Strong patient observation skills to monitor health status and identify potential issues early. Knowledge of care plans, medication administration, and patient monitoring techniques. Familiarity with assisted living environments, nursing homes, hospice care, and home health settings. Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling safely while assisting clients. Excellent communication skills for client interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams. Experience working with individuals with autism or neurodevelopmental disorders is highly valued. Competence in providing personal transportation assistance and helping clients with mobility aids like Hoyer lifts. Understanding of resident's rights and confidentiality standards under HIPAA regulations. Ability to adapt to diverse client needs across geriatrics, memory care, dementia care, and home & community care settings.
