Rocklin, CA Job Details Part-time $19 - $22 an hour 2 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Qualifications Abuse and neglect policy adherence Interpersonal skills Phone communication Customer service English Research Elder abuse reporting Attention to detail Problem-solving Data entry Organizational skills Patience Computer skills Child abuse reporting laws Full Job Description Information & Assistance Navigator Seniors First | Placer County, CA Part-Time | Approximately 20 hours per week | Monday-Friday Position Summary Seniors First is seeking an Information & Assistance Navigator to help older adults, their families, caregivers, and other community members understand and access services and resources available throughout Placer County. This position goes beyond simply providing names and phone numbers. The Navigator works directly with individuals to understand their situation, identify appropriate resources, provide personalized referrals and warm handoffs, advocate when needed, and follow up to help ensure they successfully connect with the assistance they need. Requests for assistance can range from simple questions to complex situations involving multiple needs, programs, or service providers. The successful candidate will develop a strong working knowledge of community resources and use research, problem-solving, and good judgment to help individuals navigate available services. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Respond to Information & Assistance phone calls, emails, and walk-in requests in a welcoming, professional, and helpful manner. Listen to each individual's situation, help identify their needs, and explain available options and resources. Connect individuals with appropriate Seniors First programs and community organizations based on their specific needs. Provide personalized referrals and warm handoffs to service providers rather than simply providing contact information. Follow up with individuals to determine whether they were able to connect with recommended services and provide additional assistance when needed. Advocate for individuals who are having difficulty navigating services or advocating for themselves, within the scope of the Information & Assistance program. Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of community resources, service providers, eligibility requirements, and assistance programs available throughout Placer County. Utilize Seniors First's vetted resource database to research services and identify appropriate referrals. Help identify alternative resources or other possible solutions when a requested service is unavailable. Accurately document client interactions, referrals, follow-up, and services provided in Seniors First's Navigate client database. Collect required demographic and program information and ensure services are properly recorded for monthly program goals and reporting requirements. Maintain client confidentiality and follow all applicable privacy and documentation requirements. Recognize potential elder or dependent adult abuse, neglect, exploitation, or self-neglect and fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities as required by law. Maintain positive working relationships with Seniors First staff, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, healthcare providers, and other community partners. Stay informed about changes to local programs and resources that may affect the individuals we serve. Assist with community outreach, educational materials, presentations, meetings, or events as needed. Support new or expanded Information & Assistance programs and related services as assigned. Responsibilities may evolve based on program needs and organizational priorities. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong listening, research, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. The ability to work patiently and compassionately with individuals who may be experiencing stressful, confusing, or difficult circumstances. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. The ability to manage multiple client needs, referrals, and follow-up responsibilities. Good judgment and the ability to recognize when a situation requires additional assistance, advocacy, mandated reporting, or supervisor involvement. The ability and willingness to learn a wide variety of community programs, resources, eligibility requirements, and service systems. Comfortable using computers, email, online resources, and client databases. The ability to accurately document client interactions and follow established procedures. The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with coworkers and community partners. A professional, dependable, and positive approach to working with the public. Knowledge of senior services, social-service programs, nonprofit organizations, or community resources in Placer County is preferred but not required. Additional Requirements The Information & Assistance Navigator must understand and comply with: Client confidentiality requirements. Mandated Reporter responsibilities related to elder and dependent adult abuse. Seniors First policies and procedures. Program documentation and reporting requirements. Occasional public speaking, community outreach, or attendance at community events may be required. Schedule Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
