Job Summary:
The Foster Care Supervisor supervises Foster Care Case Managers in their delivery of case management services to children in foster care and their families, as well as assists them with reaching timely permanency.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
Assists the program manager with the development and management of the program. Develops and trains staff of up to 5 social service workers (Foster Care Case Managers). Conducts regular individual supervision sessions and unit meetings. Participates in Family Team Meetings as required, and any other case conference as deemed necessary for the department. Participates in required trainings. Assists with emergency situations by covering shift(s) as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications :
Must be able to work a flexible work schedule that allows for support to consumers during non-typical business hours. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Concise grammatical skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Use of personal vehicle as needed with mileage reimbursement. Ability to provide culturally competent services that shows sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a human behavioral science and three years of experience as a social service worker in a child welfare agency, a child caring institution, or in an agency performing a child welfare function. Foster care experience preferred. Master's degree preferred. Valid Michigan Driver's License, appropriate insurance. Must have completed the 9-week foster care pre-service training through the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Completion is achieving a passing score. Must be able to attend and complete the new supervisor institute training provided by DHHS within 112 days of hire or must have completed this training upon hire. Completion is achieving a passing score.
Working Conditions :
Works in an office environment and in the community as needed. Non-traditional hours occur often due to the need for evening and weekend visitation for children and birth parents as well as accommodation of foster parent's schedules. Possible stressful environment working with families and court system. Fast paced, enthusiastic and team oriented workplace.
