Full Job Description Job Summary:
Case Managerwill have a caseload and meet with clients, assess needs, and coordinate services. The Case Manager's caseload will include survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. The incumbent supports survivors of domestic violence in locating and accessing safe and affordable housing as well as legal consultation and representation as needed. The Case Manager works with clients to strengthen family functioning. He/she may be assist with providing comprehensive support to families needing childcare, parenting skills, and child abuse issues. The Case Manager stays abreast of current community as well as domestic violence and sexual abuse resources and provides referrals or directly assists clients to access those referrals. The incumbent will also collaborate with other domestic violence and sexual abuse programs throughout the state to connect them with services in their counties.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide survivor-led advocacy, safety planning, resources, and support to survivors of domestic violence
  • Advocate on client's behalf to secure safe and stable housing, which may include accompanying clients to housing appointments, acting as a liaison with landlords and negotiating leases, as well as provide guidance with rent subsidies, deposits, and other assistance related to housing.
  • Help families access resources for housing related assistance (i.e., furniture procurement, utility assistance, etc.).
  • Ensure the needs of the most marginalized survivors are centered in all programming and advocacy efforts.
  • Encourages self-advocacy skill development through modeling and coaching survivors.
  • Accompany clients to appointment, visit clients at home, and provide transportation to/from the Agency - as needed.
(Agency vehicle will be provided when driving a passenger.) Community Engagement § Represent the Agency and Develop relationships with community organizations, landlords, realtors, and government partners, to encourage collaboration and build partnerships. § Collaborate with local housing authorities and other housing/homeless service organizations to find and develop resources for survivors. § Coordinate with the statewide coalition, NJCEDV, and other domestic violence programs to ensure services are provided in a trauma responsive and survivor-centered way. § Develop and maintain positive working relationships with social service agencies in the community and other stakeholders, including cultivating meaningful connections with organizations that primarily serve historically marginalized communities § Participate in community meetings where housing is discussed/addressed such as Continuum of Care (CoC) meetings. Other v Actively contributes to a positive team environment and provides the collaboration needed for high-quality services to survivors. v Participates in training, coaching, and learning communities to increase knowledge of housing and support for survivors. v Participates in data collection and reporting efforts as required by the program and funders. v Sets-up and runs recreational activities for children, including graduation parties. v Assists in the coordination and marketing of program activities. v Keeps statistical records, tracks use of resources and documents encounters. v Participates in supervision and brings attention to any circumstances that present significant risk or harm.
Qualifications:
  • Valid Driver License.
  • Spanish/English Fluency
  • Knowledge about domestic violence and the impact of violence and trauma on survivors and their children.
  • Extensive knowledge of housing resources and options, public benefits, and community resources to meet various survivor needs.
  • Demonstrated history of contributing to a healthy and collaborative team culture.
  • Ability to engage in constructive self-care activities to manage and prevent secondary and vicarious trauma.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-task environment and accept interruptions while performing duties.
  • The ability to work well under pressure and deal appropriately with crisis and stress situations.
Education:
Bachelor's degree minimum
