Description

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Housing Specialist I, the Supported Living Caseworker provides necessary support for individuals involved in the Supported Living Program by insuring a comfortable, home-like environment for residents of this program, which requires the ability to establish therapeutic relationships with the chronically mentally ill individual. Assigned duties are implemented in a manner appropriate to the age-specific needs of the clients served.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related discipline, OR Associate's degree with six months experience in a Mental Health residential setting, OR High School diploma required with (3) three years experience.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Years of experience in working with chronically mentally ill individuals required according to schedule above.

SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Must be cleared by PA State Police criminal history check. CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within the first six (6) months of hire, and maintained throughout employment with the Mental Health Division. Valid Pa Driver's License required for driving program vehicle during working hours for travel to all the Mental Health Division's sites within the community. Must successfully complete Allied's Driver Testing Program, as stated by policy #2.43. Needs to be able to work a flexible scheduled work time to maintain 24 hour, 365 days a year coverage and to rotate throughout CRRP work sites to accommodate the needs of the residents. Must possess a significant degree of independent judgement, organizational skills, and ability to perform required duties in accordance with regulatory standards and guidelines as required. Must participate in preparation for application into the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Registry and once attained must be maintained throughout employment with the Mental Health Division. Needs to be able to rotate throughout all shifts, on an as needed basis, in order to ensure efficient running of day to day operations in accordance with regulatory standards and guidelines. Actively demonstrates through work performance, both in oral and written material their competency in practicing psychiatric rehabilitation. Will become culturally aware and demonstrate cultural competencies in their work performances. Will demonstrate the ability to maintain a professional attitude in verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills required for effective working relationship with staff, management, residents and external agency personnel. Must maintain confidentiality of all resident information. Must possess the ability to make mature and appropriate judgments in matters related to resident safety.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sedentary work: duties require exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally (approx 10-33% of shift) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (approx 33-66% of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move articles such as files. Involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Position required occasional crisis intervention for protection of self and others. Ability to transport self throughout facility is required. Must be able to travel as required.
