Company Overview The Alle-Kiski Area HOPE Center, Inc. has been working to eliminate domestic violence since 1979. HOPE's service area includes northern portions of Allegheny and Westmoreland counties. Our shelter provides safety to a combined 23 adults and children experiencing domestic violence and/or homelessness. Other services offered at HOPE include a 24-hour hotline, legal advocacy and accompaniment, civil legal attorney services, crisis intervention, medical advocacy, prevention and education, and information and referral services. HOPE offers supportive services, opportunities for healing, and community education to assist victims, and to end violence and abuse. The shelter operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Residential advocates will provide direct service and advocacy services to people experiencing domestic violence and/or homelessness within the shelter setting. The schedule will require candidates to have open availability for shift work and to be open to working weekends, holidays, and other days as scheduled. Responsibilities Assist residents with safety planning, crisis intervention, and emotional support during their stay Complete initial screens, intakes, and paperwork and document all necessary data Provide resource referrals for housing, legal aid, healthcare, and addiction counseling Maintain resident confidentiality while documenting interactions accurately in compliance with agency policies Collaborate with community partners to coordinate services for residents experiencing Domestic violence and homelessness Assist in the cleaning and safekeeping of the building Address and resolve the issues as they arise Assist and conduct domestic violence and life skills groups Participate in staff meetings and ongoing training Other duties as assigned by Supervisor Candidates will need Act 33/34 clearances, FBI clearances, and a valid driver's license Skills Experience in shelter or social service settings preferred Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations Proficiency in Microsoft Office for documentation and data collection purposes Ability to handle sensitive situations using resident confidentiality protocols Join us in making a difference!
