This position will be filled as a Caseworker I or Caseworker II depending upon the qualifications of the applicant. Key Responsibilities The Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS), within the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), is looking for an APS Caseworker I or II for the St. George and surrounding areas. The APS Caseworker provides adult protection services (APS) by investigating and assessing allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation on vulnerable adults, and documenting investigative findings and client progress toward risk resolution. You may have to engage in conversations with upset, frustrated, or angry individuals. Investigating reports of abuse, exploitation, and/or neglect referrals. Recommends appropriate care or intervention. Assess client needs and documents client progress. Complete assessments for clients regarding vulnerability and capacity. Deals with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism. Use of common computer programs; proficient in grammar and typing. Operates a multi-line telephone system. Supports St.
George and surrounding areas (when needed). Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Caseworker I:
Pay $18.77
16: A Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Family & Human Development, Criminal Justice, Gerontology or a closely related field is preferred. You will also qualify if you have at least 4 years of paid employment or volunteering working with older adults and/or people with disabilities (vulnerable adults). A minimum of 6 months employment as a case manager or investigator. Familiar with investigative techniques. This employee will operate under close and regularly provided professional supervision. Possesses a current valid Utah driver's license.
Caseworker II:
Pay $20.89
41: Holds an Social Service Worker or higher licensure in good standing (required by statute
UCA58-60-103
). This employee will be fully trained and exercise independent judgment and discretion and assess human service needs for elder adults and/or people with disabilities. Possesses a current Utah valid driver's license. Supplemental Information Only applicants invited to interview will be notified. May require 24-hour on-call services/time. 24-hour on-call services response time to be determined by the agency. Department of Human Resource Management rules regarding promotions and transfers apply to current employees. Travel required; you may be required to use your personal vehicle to perform the duties of this position; approved mileage is reimbursable through State Finance. The employee may also be required to attend
DAAS/DHHS
events. Must have a valid Utah driver's license. All DAAS job offers are contingent upon passing a Background Screening Application (BSA). A position's eligibility for hybrid work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason. - Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.
g. working at great heights, working in extreme outdoor weather conditions, being subject to possible physical attack, etc. Some special risks which may require the use of special safety precautions e.g., entering clients homes, maybe working around contagious diseases, i.e. parasitic infections caused by head lice, bed bugs, scabies, etc. or chemicals, i.e. illegal substances, etc. About the Role Location
