Resident Advocate The Women's Shelter of South Texas dba The Purple Door - 2.2 Corpus Christi, TX Job Details Part-time From $19 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Computer operation Client rapport building Domestic violence situation handling Working with survivors of violence Resident rapport building Domestic violence intervention Quality data entry Full Job Description Purpose/function of position: Provide direct services to residents in emergency shelter setting for survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. Provide coverage of 24-hour hotline, peer counseling, and information and referral to callers and clients. Supervise general house operation during the shift in order to ensure quality service delivery. Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Complete initial residential orientation for clients entering emergency shelter which may include, but is not limited to completion of entry paperwork, completion of a needs and goal assessment, explanation of house guidelines and programs to clients. Manage the daily activities of emergency shelter by assigning chores, supervising chores, ensuring that community living guidelines, rules, and policies are adhered to by residents. Oversee the safety, security, and general welfare of residents and facility during assigned shift, including being on-call as required. Answer 24-hour hotline in order to provide telephone assessments/service eligibility, crisis intervention, peer counseling, and information and referral. Ensure appropriate records are maintained regarding clients and service delivery.
EDUCATION
Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault, persons with special needs, community resources, and crisis intervention techniques required. Strong interpersonal skills, team work, and ability to establish rapport with diverse populations needed. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to speak Spanish desired, but not required. Computer skills for data entry needed. Maintain professional conduct and represent the Agency in a professional manner. This schedule for this position consists of shift work with non-traditional hours to include nights, weekends and holidays. The Purple Door is an equal opportunity employer with a diverse workforce.
