Job Description
Summary The DUI Therapeutic Court Case Manager is a mid-level staff position and is responsible for direct services to participants in the DUI therapeutic court program, in coordination with behavioral health and social service agencies within Grays Harbor County. This position also provides casework to clients to assist with their basic physical, mental and social needs. This position requires independent judgment. The duties are performed under the supervision of the Director of Probation Services. Essential Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Monitors all conditions of DUI therapeutic court offender contract for individual offenders accepted in the program. 2. Maintains detailed case records, including participant's progress notes, prepares required reports, forms and documents. 3. Contributes meaningfully to meetings convened to review participant progress. 4. Prepares reports for the court including criminal history, personal history, social and economic needs, counseling/treatment needs, employment history and completes written reports which can include sentencing recommendations to the court. 5. Provides limited counseling to offenders, including problem solving techniques, emotional support and assessing offender's needs. 6. Makes referrals to appropriate treatment and/or physical and mental health agencies. 7. Investigates and prepares reports for the court regarding potential violations of DUI therapeutic court contract. 8. Attends and testifies at court proceedings related to DUI court cases, making several appearances monthly. 9. Collects and interprets urine and breath samples taken from offenders. 10. Gathers and interprets arrest history information. 11. Ability to conduct group meetings with offenders and facilitate public meetings. May be required to meet with offender in a jail setting. 12. Monitors electronic home monitoring for individuals placed on DUI therapeutic court contract including interpretation of reports and processes furlough request. 13. Interprets DOL abstracts including ignition interlock requirement for defendants and monitoring purposes. 14. Performs face to face interviews with offenders based upon their risk classification as required by set standards. 15. Other duties as assigned QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate of Arts degree in social services, criminal justice, or a related field and two (2) years of experience working with individuals diagnosed with a substance use and/or mental health disorder; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to interview and interpret offender's problems, including but not limiting to alcoholism and drug abuse, domestic violence, mental illness, and sexual deviancy. Ability to testify in court, communicate with referral sources and to prepare legal documents and reports. Ability to work independently. Ability to work cooperatively with others as a member of a service-oriented team. Thorough knowledge of local, state & federal criminal laws, confidentiality requirements, local court rules and administrative codes. Must pass a criminal background check. Must have a valid Washington State driver's license. Successful completion of the Adult Services Academy within six months of employment as required byWAC 139-36-020 RCW 43.101.220.
Working knowledge of treatment requirements and evidence-based practices.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System, current drug trends, substance abuse/addiction, the cycle of domestic violence and community resources. Knowledge of computer systems for caseload management and Microsoft Office computer system. Knowledge of general office practices and procedures. Ability to appear/testify in court. Ability to work independently, supervise individuals, gain confidence and cooperation of probationers, establish working relationships with other staff, community resources, law enforcement and court personnel. Ability to conduct group meetings with offenders and facilitate public meetings. Ability to organize work and meet established deadlines. Ability to learn and operate computer system for the Court and/or Probation. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to work effectively under pressure. Ability to pass a criminal background check. Ability to work evenings if necessary. Skilled in interviewing techniques. Skilled in the use of standard office machines and equipment. Skilled in attention to detail and accuracy. Supplemental InformationBENEFITS

Work is primarily performed in an office environment, with varying degrees of noise and temperament of people. Physical requirements include, sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, a sense of touch, finger dexterity, ability to grip with hands and fingers, ability to hear voice conversation, ability to speak and the ability to read existing records in their original and stored formats.
