Job Description

Position Title:
Sexual Assault Advocate Employment Type:
Full-Time (35 hours/week)
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 4:00 PM-11:00 PM; occasional weekend hours as needed
On-Call:
Includes on-call response for SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) and CAC (Child Advocacy Center) needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Experience:
Prior experience working with or supporting survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault is preferred Understanding of trauma-informed care and victim-centered advocacy approaches
Skills:
Ability to remain calm in crisis situations and provide empathetic, nonjudgmental support Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
Requirements:
Background check required Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
Position Summary:
As a Sexual Assault Advocate , you will provide critical, trauma-informed support to individuals affected by sexual violence. In this role, you will empower survivors through compassionate advocacy, emotional support, safety planning, and resource coordination. You will collaborate with law enforcement, medical professionals, and other agencies to ensure client-centered care, both in-person and over the phone.
Core Responsibilities:
Provide nonjudgmental, trauma-informed support to survivors of sexual assault and their families, including emotional support and safety planning during crisis and recovery. Offer advocacy services with community partners, including law enforcement, the legal system, healthcare providers, and other social service agencies. Accompany and support clients through legal and medical processes such as SANE exams, court hearings, and interviews. Provide information, referrals, and follow-up services to ensure client needs are met. Coordinate or provide transportation for clients when needed. Assist and complete intakes with arranging emergency shelter for survivors when necessary. Organize and facilitate support groups for survivors of sexual assault. Maintain complete, confidential documentation of client contacts, services provided, and other program-related data per agency and funder requirements. Collaborate with program staff on developing educational materials and contributing to agency policy updates related to sexual assault services. Participate in ongoing training, workshops, and professional development to enhance service delivery. Assist with shelter operations, including cleaning, baking, and sorting donations .
