Child Support Hourly Pay Rate:
$16.87 - $25.31

May 25, 2026, or sooner upon receipt of the first 50 application submissions •This Position is Bilingual all applicants must be able to read, write and speak both English to Spanish and Spanish to English. Child Support Services, a service area of the Department of Health and Human Services, is dedicated to the goal of ensuring that all children are supported by both parents whenever possible. The service area manages over 125,000 IV-D cases for Milwaukee County.
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, perform varied customer service tasks in an organizational unit. Respond to and streamline worklist items to appropriate departments. Interpret data and information received from the participants via the worklist and identify services needed by the participant. Mail out information, motion packets and income withholdings related to the participant or external source's concern. Frequent in person interviews. This position is specifically focused on dealing with Spanish speaking participants for various forms of translation, written and verbal communications. Candidate must be proficient in English and Spanish.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Address Child support policies and procedures and case specific issues with participants who either call or visit the office for assistance. Review and provide limited financial information found in the KIDS system. Interpret for interview room and front desk operations. Utilize and analyze multiple computer databases to review cases, obtain data and respond to inquiries related to child support. Update information including addresses, employers, and recording case information discussed and received during in person interviews. Add notes on actions taken on case. Generate letters to verify address and employer information, send out packets that correlate with services that participant's request. Draft income withholdings. Determine the corresponding unit to address the participant's concerns including interstate, paternity, intake, order establishment, or financial in lieu of an office visit or a work list item. Perform any and all other duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent Current Wisconsin resident At least 6 months of customer service experience that includes entering and retrieving data from a computer database Bilingual with the ability to read, write and speak both English to Spanish and Spanish to English Basic knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of office/customer service principles, methods, and practices; oral and written communication skills; analytical skills, basic math skills, skill in data entry and in using a personal computer, including the ability to query and retrieve information and produce word processing documents. Plan and work independently conducting interviews with participants and working in a faced paced, high stress environment. The ability to work efficiently in a high volume fast paced environment with multi-cultural populations of varying education and social economics, projecting a positive and concerned image to the public. Being sensitive to participants and learning the child support regulations, policies, procedures, statutes and requirements in order to work effectively and harmoniously with clients, attorneys, families, court officials, community-based agencies, law enforcement, and other governmental agencies, and the public with the capacity to maintain strict confidentiality.
Environmental Demands:
Generally diversified and moderately difficult work in a structured work environment, relatively routine in nature. Involving a choice of action within limits of standard policy and procedures. High volume direct Public Contact with distressed individuals and exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than direct supervisor.
