Full Job Description Job Summary :
Position will be responsible for building relationships and partnerships that increase access and affordability of resources that will improve outcomes for survivors of domestic violence. Assists Rapid Rehousing Case Managers with client needs to include teaching of independent living skills, advancement in education, obtaining employment, transporting clients and participating in home visits. Assists with securing area landlords, landlord tenant mediation, apartment search, apartment applications, completing intake paperwork and auditing client files for accuracy. Responsible for conducting Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspections as required. Position may also be responsible to carry a small caseload when needed.
Hours:
Full- Time 10:00 am to 6:00 pm The ability to work flexible hours is necessary. Primarily works business hours during the week, but duties may require working some evenings and weekends.
Essential Duties:
Develop partnerships with housing providers, landlords, educational institutions, employers and other key community members to allow Golden House to assist survivors beyond the initial crisis and support long-term solutions to move survivors out of poverty and into self-sufficiency. Advocate for and empower domestic violence survivors as they search for supportive and/or independent housing. Locate affordable housing for participants and assist participants with moving into their unit. Work with area landlords to secure affordable housing options on an ongoing basis. Support participants in the program with goal obtainment and develop independent living skill plans based on needs of each individual client. This will include providing home visits, in-depth evaluation of educational and employment plans, facilitation of landlord/tenant mediation, connection to community resources etc. Facilitating both one-on-one and group independent skills training will be a necessary component of this position. Work side by side with Rapid Rehousing Case Managers in connecting families with needed and available community resources and coordinate with each assigned Rapid Rehousing Case Manager. Complete and maintain necessary documentation including coordinated entry, osnium, and client case files. Follow all procedural policies and processes as required with this grant. Maintain a clean, professional appearance of facility by following protocol for accepting and storing donations, keep storage areas organized, and complete other tasks as assigned. Maintains the confidential nature of client and business information.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence, poverty and trauma informed care. Knowledge of human development; strong understanding of attitudes, behaviors and development. Understand the individual and systemic needs domestic violence survivors experience. Ability to understand human behavior and to relate sensitively and effectively with victims of domestic violence and their families. Knowledge of building community partnerships with employers, educational institutions, landlords, and other community partners. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of collateral resources and internal staff. Knowledge of and ability to utilize a computer and the required software. Ability to communicate organization needs in a manner that encourages others to partner and donate. Ability to be decisive and make constructive decisions, under the pressure of crises or emergencies, with appropriate knowledge and timing. Ability to plan and organize work and to make effective use of time. Ability to be cross trained in a variety of positions to assist with all aspects of our work. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal staff and the broader community. Ability to work the required hours of the position consistently. This position's primary hours will be from 10am-6pm. Duties require flexibility with hours and some evenings and weekends if necessary.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field preferred. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with home visitation and/or life skill training preferred. Valid Wisconsin driver's license and insurable per Golden House auto insurance requirements Completion of criminal background check.
Typical physical and mental demands:
Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer and standard office equipment. Requires hearing within normal range and vision correctable to 20/20 to read communications, reports and computer terminals. Requires lifting at a minimum of 30lbs. Requires use of cleaning products both in shelter and in community living apartments. Must be able to analyze many variables and choose the most efficient and effective course of action. Must be able to give, receive and analyze information, formulate plans, prepare written materials, and articulate goals and action plans. Must be able to communicate and provide verbal feedback in a positive, professional manner. Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions independently.
