Hard Luck Animal Welfare Advocates (HLAWA) is a dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization partnering directly with the City of Stockton Animal Shelter (SAS). We provide all onsite veterinary and medical care for shelter animals, while working to improve outcomes for pets and the people who love them in San Joaquin County. Our team is passionate, collaborative, and driven by the belief that every animal deserves a chance. HLAWA is seeking a dynamic, community-focused Community Outreach & Sponsorship Coordinator to serve as a key representative of our organization within San Joaquin County and beyond. This role centers on relationship-building, fundraising leadership, community engagement, and event coordination. The ideal candidate is outgoing, professional, self- motivated, and eager to grow HLAWA's visibility and credibility throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities:
Community Engagement & Outreach Represent HLAWA throughout San Joaquin County and nationwide by engaging with local businesses, community leaders, civic groups, residents, etc. Build strong, positive relationships that increase awareness of HLAWA's mission and programs. This might be in the form of social media posts, videos, educational videos, and more. Identify and pursue opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, and community support. •The number of events required each month will vary depending on the time of year and other events being scheduled by Foster, Rescue, and the Stockton Animal Shelter. The Community Outreach & Sponsorship coordinator should be trying to reach as many new audiences as possible each week to increase engagement and awareness of Hard Luck Animal Welfare Advocates. •Minimum one weekend (Saturday and/or Sunday) event each month whether it is an adoption event or strictly just outreach and education with no animals onsite. The Community Outreach & Sponsorship coordinator should not be executing more than two weekend events per month. This is to avoid burning out. Fundraising & Sponsorship Development Implement fundraising initiatives to support HLAWA's vision and mission for the program. Cultivate sponsorship relationships with local businesses, corporations, community partners, etc. Assist, when requested, with donor stewardship, tracking, and communications to maintain strong, lasting support. Event Coordination Assist in the coordination and planning of community and shelter-related events, such as adoption events, outreach clinics, and large-scale fundraisers such as the Annual Crab Feed. Work collaboratively with Stockton Animal Shelter leadership and staff to plan and execute successful joint events. Manage event logistics, assist with volunteer involvement day of the event, donation collection, and promotional efforts. Public Representation Deliver clear, compelling message about HLAWA's mission, impact, and needs. Participate in tabling events, community fairs, presentations, and outreach opportunities. Uphold and enhance HLAWA's credibility, professionalism, and visibility as a trusted nonprofit partner in the county to the best of your ability. Qualifications Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently engage the community. Experience in community outreach, fundraising, sponsorship development, or related fields preferred. Ability to lead initiatives, work independently, and manage multiple priorities. Comfortable working in the field and representing the organization at events and public forums. Passion for animal welfare and supporting the mission of HLAWA.
