This is a full-time, grant-funded position.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Prevention Coordinator is the primary staff person responsible for leading the implementation of the DMHAS-funded Building Resilient Youth and Communities with Prevention (BRYCWP) initiative and prevention work for the Town of Stratford. This position leads all project activities, ensures fidelity to the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), coordinates the Local Prevention Council, the Stratford Partnership for Youth and Families (SPYF), manages reporting requirements, and serves as the organization's central liaison to DMHAS and its Prevention Resource Links. The Coordinator ensures successful planning, implementation, and evaluation of community-level prevention strategies to reduce underage drinking and cannabis use among youth ages 12-20.

This position will report to the Assistant Director of Community & Senior Services.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Program Leadership & SPF Implementation Lead and coordinate all five steps of the Strategic Prevention Framework (Assessment, Capacity Building, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation) in partnership with the SPYF and Independent Local Evaluator. Ensure integration of cultural competency and sustainability throughout all SPF work. Collaborate with DMHAS Prevention Resource Links (TTASC, CPES, GPP, RBHAOs) to ensure fidelity, technical support, and progress through the SPF. Attend all required DMHAS meetings, trainings, and Learning Communities. Implement teen Mental Health First Aid trainings. Community Engagement Serve as the primary coordinator for SPYF activities, supporting meaningful community sector participation and ensuring the SPYF helps guide SPF implementation. Strengthen partnerships with schools, youth-serving organizations, law enforcement, municipal leaders, business sectors, and community groups to meet RFP objectives. Support youth involvement and ensure youth voice informs planning, data collection, and implementation efforts. Coordinate LPC and Youth Alliance social marketing strategies and campaigns. Youth Peer Advocate Supervision Supervise part-time Youth Peer Advocate (YPA). Provide mentorship, task delegation, and professional development opportunities. Attend Youth Alliance and YAB meetings in the YPA's absence (required). Evaluation & Data Management Coordinate all evaluation responsibilities with the Independent Local Evaluator, including Needs Assessment, Strategic Plan, Evaluation Plan, Sustainability Plan, Evaluation Summary, School/Student Surveys, and Final Report. Ensure timely data entry of monthly service data, quarterly reports, and required annual reports into DMHAS systems. Support the collection and interpretation of local quantitative and qualitative data, including youth survey data and community indicators. Compliance & Contract Oversight Monitor fidelity to evidence-based strategies and environmental prevention approaches. Maintain compliance with DMHAS contract terms, federal funding requirements, evaluation mandates, and reporting deadlines. Collaborate with fiscal staff to support budget development, tracking, and reporting. Support preparation for DMHAS site visits and partner meetings. Professional Development Participate in ongoing training and skill development related to prevention science, equity, data use, community engagement, and project management. Work toward obtaining Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) credential by end of the contract term if not already certified (preferred by DMHAS). Attain teen Mental Health First Aid facilitator certification
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in substance use prevention, public health, behavioral health, community planning, or related field. Demonstrated competencies in project management, community engagement, program implementation, and collaboration across diverse groups. Strong communication, facilitation, and organizational skills. Ability to support data-driven planning and work collaboratively with evaluators. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred:
Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) or ability to earn certification by the end of the contract term. Prior experience supervising staff or youth employees. Familiarity with the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) model. Understanding of prevention science, youth development, or community-based public health. Experience working with community coalitions, LPCs, or similar collaborative groups.
WORK SCHEDULE & ENVIRONMENT
Full-time, 37.5 hours/ week. Requires occasional evenings/weekends for community meetings or events. Office-based, with local travel expected.
