Chief Executive Officer About DSAJ The Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville (DSAJ) serves individuals with Down syndrome and their families through education, advocacy, outreach, family support, community connection, and meaningful programs across Northeast Florida. Job Summary DSAJ is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and relationship-driven Director of Outreach and Development to grow community awareness, deepen family and partner engagement, and secure vital funding to advance our mission. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for development and fundraising, donor and sponsor stewardship, community and family outreach, medical outreach, signature events, proposal writing, and public-facing communications. The ideal candidate can set strategy, build meaningful relationships, and also manage the details needed to execute events, campaigns, and outreach initiatives successfully. The Director of Outreach and Development works closely with the CEO, staff, board members, volunteers, families, donors, sponsors, medical providers, and community partners to strengthen DSAJ's visibility, impact, and long-term sustainability. Key Responsibilities Fundraising, Development, and Donor Stewardship Develop and implement an annual development and outreach plan aligned with DSAJ's goals. Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, sponsors, corporate partners, foundations, and community supporters. Prepare sponsorship materials, donor communications, proposal materials, grant-related content, reports, and follow-up communications. Work with the CEO and board leadership to strengthen fundraising strategies, sponsor relationships, and major donor opportunities. Maintain accurate donor, sponsor, and partner records using a donor database, CRM, or other tracking system. Research potential funding sources, community partnership opportunities, and local engagement trends. Track sponsorship commitments, donor activity, event revenue, expenses, and fundraising outcomes; provide timely updates and post-event debriefs. Events and Community Engagement Plan, coordinate, and execute DSAJ signature fundraising events. Support community partner fundraising events. Coordinate DSAJ-hosted family and community events. Manage event timelines, logistics, venues, vendors, registration, sponsor recognition, volunteer coordination, materials, and follow-up. Create positive, engaging event experiences that increase participation, deepen community connection, and maximize fundraising impact. Work collaboratively with staff, board members, committees, volunteers, and community partners to ensure successful event execution. Family, Community, and Medical Outreach Serve as a welcoming point of contact for new families and help connect families to DSAJ programs, resources, and community support. Conduct welcome conversations, share DSAJ and community resources, and provide thoughtful follow-up to encourage ongoing engagement. Build and maintain relationships with hospitals, medical providers, prenatal and postnatal care providers, early intervention agencies, and related community organizations. Distribute DSAJ informational materials and resources to medical and community partners. Coordinate Lunch and Learn sessions, educational presentations, and outreach opportunities with medical and community partners. Support CEO-led planning and community representation related to DSAJ's future. Represent DSAJ professionally at local, regional, national, and affiliate meetings, events, and partnership opportunities when appropriate. Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations Collaborate on digital marketing, email communications, social media, website content, and public relations efforts to increase visibility and engagement. Draft clear and compelling content for donor communications, event promotions, sponsor updates, newsletters, proposals, and community outreach materials. Use tools such as WordPress, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, social media platforms, or similar systems to support outreach and engagement. Collect and review participation, fundraising, and engagement data to evaluate effectiveness and refine future outreach strategies. Help bring relevant policy, resource, advocacy, and educational updates back to DSAJ staff and leadership. Qualifications and Skills Required Experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, event management, community outreach, communications, marketing, relationship management, or a closely related role. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, families, volunteers, community organizations, corporate partners, or medical/community partners. Strong event planning and project management skills, including timelines, logistics, volunteer coordination, sponsor fulfillment, and post-event follow-up. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create persuasive donor, sponsor, proposal, and public-facing materials. Strong organizational skills, follow-through, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Comfort using databases, spreadsheets, email marketing tools, or CRM systems to track relationships, communications, and results. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events, meetings, and community activities. Ability to handle confidential donor, family, and organizational information with discretion. Commitment to DSAJ's mission and to serving individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Preferred Five or more years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of professional experience and demonstrated results. Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience. Existing relationships in Jacksonville or Northeast Florida that may support fundraising, sponsorships, medical outreach, community engagement, or partnerships. Experience with donor databases or CRM platforms such as Raiser's Edge, Salesforce, Bloomerang, DonorPerfect, PledgeIt or similar systems. Experience with Mailchimp, Constant Contact, WordPress, social media management, event registration tools, or similar platforms. Experience writing, sponsorship packages, donor appeals, reports, or public relations materials. Familiarity with Down syndrome advocacy, disability services, family support programs, medical outreach, or community-based nonprofit work. Experience coordinating volunteers, committees, board members, or large-scale events. Familiarity with planned giving concepts is a plus, but not required. Compensation and Benefits DSAJ offers a competitive salary based on experience, qualifications, demonstrated fundraising and development results, and relevant community relationships.
