Job Description

The Kittery Community Center (KCC) is seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and community-minded individuals to serve as Community Activities Assistants. The pay rate for this non-exempt, non-union position ranges from $18.25 to $20.08 per hour depending upon experience and is subject to future annual cost of living and merit increases. This flexible part-time position supports a wide variety of programs, events, services, and activities offered through the KCC. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with people, be friendly, approachable, and welcoming, and take pride in helping create positive experiences for KCC patrons. Hours vary based on community needs and programming schedules and may include: Weekday mornings, afternoons, and evenings; Weekends; School vacation periods; Community events and special programs. The Community Activities Assistant helps create a welcoming and inclusive environment for residents of all ages by assisting with youth, teen, adult, senior, wellness, arts, and community programs, as well as special events and facility operations. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, building community connections, and contributing to the success of a vibrant community center. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Assists with the implementation and supervision of Kittery Community Center (KCC) programs, classes, camps, activities, and special events; Supports community events, performances, lectures, wellness programs, family activities, tournaments, and celebrations; Provides direct support to program staff to ensure activities run safely, efficiently, and successfully; Assists staff with event/facility setup and breakdown, including tables, chairs, signage, decorations, equipment, and other program/event preparation; Helps facilitate positive experiences for participants of all ages, including children, teens, adults, seniors, and families; Welcomes guests, answers questions and assists with event logistics; Performs other related duties necessary to support KCC operations. Essential Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities High school diploma (minimum), GED, or currently completing coursework towards a high school diploma or GED; Must be at least 16 years of age; Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals of diverse demographics, backgrounds, and abilities; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Ability to demonstrate initiative, flexibility, problem solving, and organizational skills; Ability to provide excellent customer service Ability to use a computer and varied applications Experience in recreation, community programming, youth development, customer service, education, camps, events, or nonprofit organizations; CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain); Experience working with children, teens, seniors, or community groups. Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods; Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds; Ability to assist with event and room setup, including moving tables, chairs, and equipment; Ability to work both indoors and outdoors during community events and programs.
