SUMMARY:
The Health Programs and Community Outreach Coordinator will work alongside community partners and a dedicated team to help improve access to nutritious food, strengthen community connections, and respond to the needs of neighbors throughout our service area. This role will be responsible for connecting neighbors across our 16-county service area with nutritious food, health and nutrition programing and other resources. The Health Programs & Community Outreach Coordinator plays an important role in supporting the food bank's health and nutrition initiatives, community partnerships, outreach efforts and direct services. This ideal candidate will be organized, relationship-focused, comfortable working in the community and passionate about improving access to health food and resources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate and support health and nutrition programs, including Food is Medicine initiatives and other current and future health-focused programming.
- Manage participant referrals, enrollment, communication, scheduling, distributions, and access to program services.
- Build and maintain relationships with healthcare providers, partner agencies, community organizations, businesses, elected officials, and other community stakeholders.
- Plan and participate in community outreach activities, resource events, meetings, listening sessions, and other opportunities to connect neighbors with food and available resources.
- Gather community feedback and help identify unmet needs and gaps in food access to inform program planning and outreach efforts.
- Support and, as assigned, coordinate Just-in-Time mobile distributions that respond to emerging needs throughout the food bank's service area.
- Work collaboratively with community partners and internal departments to coordinate program activities, distributions, outreach, and logistics.
- Maintain accurate program, participant, distribution, and outreach records and assist with data collection, surveys, reporting, grant requirements, and program evaluation.
- Protect confidential participant and health information in accordance with applicable requirements and food bank policies.
- Support food safety practices, partner agency monitoring, special projects, and other Programs and Agency Services activities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two years' experience in program administration, community outreach, direct services or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with non-profit community organizations and knowledge of hunger, nutrition, health or food access issues preferred.
- Must conduct outreach and successfully motivate participants to complete surveys and screening.
- Strong written/verbal communication, relationship-building, organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to connect and work effectively with individuals and organizations from diverse backgrounds and communities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines while working independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to learn program databases and reporting systems.
- A commitment to treating all neighbors with dignity, respect and confidentiality.
- Ability to travel regularly throughout Southeast Missouri Food Bank's 16-county service area and work occasional evenings and Saturdays.
- Must have a valid Missouri driver's license and a good driving record.
