Overview The Community Outreach Coordinator serves as a key liaison between Harambe Social Services and the community. This position promotes Harambe's mission, expands awareness of available services, builds community partnerships, coordinates outreach activities, manages social media engagement, and recruits volunteers. Harambe is a culturally specific organization focused on promoting the well-being of Black and African American survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, dating violence, and other forms of gender-based violence, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community. All Harambe services are open and available to survivors from every community. This position requires a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends. Responsibilities Develop and implement a coordinated community outreach plan aligned with Harambe's mission and program goals. Maintain an outreach calendar and coordinate Harambe's participation in community events, presentations, workshops, webinars, and awareness campaigns. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with schools, colleges, healthcare providers, law enforcement, faith and spiritual communities, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and other community partners. Identify new opportunities to increase community awareness, strengthen partnerships, and connect survivors and families with Harambe's services. Represent Harambe professionally at meetings, community events, coalitions, and other public forums. Education and Presentations Develop and deliver culturally relevant, trauma-informed presentations and workshops for professionals, community stakeholders, parents, youth, and other audiences. Establish learning objectives, prepare presentation materials, coordinate event logistics, and evaluate outreach activities. Incorporate culturally responsive, anti-oppression, and primary-prevention principles into outreach and educational activities. Provide accurate information about domestic violence, sexual violence, healthy relationships, available resources, and Harambe's services. Communications and Social Media Develop and carry out a social media plan for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and other approved channels. Create and schedule appropriate content in coordination with assigned staff. Assist with developing brochures, flyers, digital advertisements, audio materials, and other outreach resources. Document approved events through photographs and videos and share content on Harambe's website and social media platforms in accordance with confidentiality and consent requirements. Work toward increasing Harambe's social media engagement and followers by at least 25%. Volunteer Coordination Recruit, orient, support, and maintain an active pool of volunteers to assist with outreach and community activities. Match volunteers with appropriate assignments and monitor their participation. Coordinate volunteer recognition, appreciation activities, and other retention efforts. Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, partnerships, presentations, attendance, referrals, volunteer participation, and social media engagement. Enter required information into agency databases accurately, securely, and on time. Prepare activity and outcome reports as required by Harambe and its funding sources. Protect survivor confidentiality and comply with all agency privacy, safety, and data-security requirements. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in communications, social services, public health, marketing, community development, or a related field. At least three years of relevant experience in community outreach, public education, partnership development, volunteer coordination, or a related area. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with public and private organizations. Experience developing and implementing social media and community engagement strategies. Knowledge of domestic violence, sexual violence, trauma-informed practices, and the needs of culturally diverse communities (preferred) Strong public speaking, written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and electronic database systems. Ability to maintain accurate records and handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality. Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to community locations, as required. Training Requirements The selected candidate must complete the required 40- or 60-hour domestic violence and/or sexual assault training, as applicable to the position. Harambe will also provide five hours of paid training related to serving the LGBTQIA+ community.
