SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator will produce an engaging, meaningful, and successful volunteer program that meets the needs of the agency. This individual will create connections with supportive community members and organizations to increase brand and program awareness. The Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator is part of the FONP Development team and works closely with operations team members to identify volunteer staffing levels, recruit, orientate, train, and recognize volunteers. The coordinator arranges special visitor groups and projects, supports special events, and assists with other projects as needed. This coordinator will perform outreach to cultivate and maintain relationships with community organizations and stakeholders to increase awareness of the services available by FONP. They will be an advocate for individuals who use the community feeding and Friends of Friends programs, and gather ideas and feedback from all people on ways the mission can best help alleviate hunger and poverty in our community.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Scheduling, training and on-boarding volunteers: Maintains and optimizes use of volunteer management software. Contacts volunteers to confirm shifts' start and end times, expectations and work attire. Welcomes and leads check-in of volunteers, including facility tours. Works with appropriate staff to ensure volunteers are properly trained in their area of service. Provides backup and support to operations staff as needed, particularly during holidays and other busy periods. Assists with hands-on (on site, volunteer support) as needed as well as program administration Ensures a positive, rewarding experience for volunteers Maintains a welcoming, tidy space for volunteers. Collaborates with Development Team members to develop and implement a volunteer appreciation and feedback program (mailings, newsletter articles, events etc.) Is proactive in identifying and recommending ways to build a more informative, inclusive experience for all volunteers based on both feedback and observations Collaborates across the organization to successfully integrate volunteers into Friends of Night People's work With assistance from management, supports the recruitment of new volunteers through local media, web, social media and outreach to local businesses and institutions. Meets regularly with colleagues throughout organization to assess needs and efficacy of the volunteer program. Maintains and implement volunteer policies and procedures regarding expectations, safety, discipline, etc. Identifies and work alongside guests of our programs who desire to participate in the delivery of our services. Works with all department to coordinate/facilitate court mandated and all other community service opportunities within Friends of Night People. Provides timely accurate reporting to county state and federal court and community supervision system. Seeking the following qualities and qualifications: Associates degree preferred, but not required. Relevant combination of education and experience in volunteer relations, community programs, and/or fundraising for a not-for-profit. Minimum of two years' experience in customer service and data entry. Experience and comfort with public speaking is required. Exemplary customer service and organizational skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and with cultural competence (speak, read, and write proficiently) in English is required, including in-person, over the phone, and by email. Advanced computer proficiency, including use of a Microsoft operating system, the internet, and MicrosoftOffice365 suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Sharepoint, OneDrive) and Google platform(Drive, Forms, Sheets Excellent interpersonal skills required to facilitate work with a wide range of individuals and groups from culturally diverse backgrounds Ability to work a flexible schedule is required. Which includes occasional evenings and weekends. Deep commitment to Friend's of Night People's mission, vision, and values, and to understanding the issues of homelessness, poverty, and food insecurity. Fluency in English required, knowledge of Spanish helpful Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 35 pounds Ability to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, resolve problems, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met Flexibility to work evenings and weekends (3 to 7PM) Valid driver's licensePay:
