Job Description
Job Summary :
The Volunteer and Community Outreach Coordinator position is responsible for recruiting and training qualified volunteers, managing their assignments within the organization as well as develop programs to retain them. Included in this position's responsibilities is scheduling and staffing all community outreach events. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, be well organized and have the ability to manage a diverse group of individuals assisting in a variety of different areas.Responsibilities & Duties:
- Hold initial orientation (shelter service, history, etc.) for new volunteers
- Coordinating initial volunteer orientations with each department in shelter to ensure orientations are properly scheduled with subject matter experts Full responsibility for all volunteering onboarding activities, including scheduling with volunteers and coordinating with shelter departments.
- Responsible for developing website content pertaining to volunteer activities and opportunities and all volunteer marketing materials and collaborating with Marketing in posting the content on our website. Collaborate with marketing in developing bi-lingual volunteer marketing materials.
- Recruitment of bi-lingual volunteers in all departments (including adoption ambassadors).
- Communicate via volunteer materials/orientation age and parental requirements for volunteering.
Experience & Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; 2 years of college or Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
- 2 years' experience in customer service, animal-related and/or non-profit settings preferred.
- Must have strong administrative skills, be highly organized, motivated and remain flexible under pressure.
- Attention to detail and ability to organize and set priorities a must.
- Provide assistance and advice to volunteers and visitors of animal shelter.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment and handle more than one task at a time.
- Requires being detail oriented and thorough in completing tasks.
- Requires a positive attitude and being a team player.
- Ability to communicate and listen with tact and empathy with supervisors, peers and visitors of the animal shelter.
- This job requires the ability to work on certain weekends and holidays.
- Must have a valid driver's license & be comfortable driving a van and/or larger vehicle.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
