This AmeriCorps position is a job training opportunity designed to help you build professional skills while supporting individuals and families in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Serve with YWCA Northcentral PA through CORE Susquehanna AmeriCorps while gaining real-world experience in trauma-informed communication, resource navigation, community outreach, and nonprofit program support. This role is ideal for individuals interested in careers in social services, human services, nonprofit work, community outreach, or advocacy. Job Training Includes Experience In:
Trauma-informed communication and engagement Community outreach and public education Resource navigation and referral processes Supportive services and human services systems Client engagement and front-line community support Development of informational and resource materials Data tracking and program documentation Volunteer engagement and community events Nonprofit program operations Professional communication and interpersonal skills Primary Responsibilities Welcome community members and provide trauma-informed support Share information about YWCA programs and available community resources Assist individuals in identifying appropriate services and referrals Support development and updates of resource guides and informational materials Assist with community outreach events and engagement activities Support distribution of educational materials to community members Strengthen connections between community members and available services Assist staff with data collection related to outreach and engagement Support volunteer engagement during community events and programming Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Ability to pass required National Service Criminal History Checks Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to interact respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds Interest in human services, outreach, or community support work Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Basic computer skills (email, data entry, online systems) Reliable transportation Preferred Experience Experience volunteering or working with the public Interest in social services, advocacy, or community resource systems Familiarity with community-based organizations or nonprofit environments Additional Details
