Community Outreach Specialist - AmeriCorps Member Role Summary Position to provide outreach, community awareness, and access to services focused on programming for children who have experienced abuse, economically disadvantaged, and need support for social/emotional needs. Looking for a creative and community-minded individual with an outgoing personality! The AmeriCorps Member will focus on maintaining and expanding Beginnings, Inc.'s community presence through a mix of community outreach events, targeted messaging, social media advertising, and more. The mission of Beginnings, Inc . is to enhance the development of children and empower their families by providing " the best start a child can have" as we work to enable children to reach their full potential developmentally and help families grow strong through early intervention and educational opportunities. The AmeriCorps Member will also assist with the recruitment and support of Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Volunteers. CASA of the Laurel Highlands' mission is to recruit, train, and support dedicated community volunteers to advocate for the best interest of children who have experienced abuse or neglect in Cambria and Somerset Counties. Through investigating, listening, and advocacy, a CASA Volunteer can change a child's story, promote positive outcomes, and help them achieve permanency."I've been able to build capacity at my host site and help community members-such a rewarding experience!"
