Job Description
The Engagement and Outreach Coordinator reports to the Lamar University Police Sergeant responsible for overseeing campus community engagement and outreach initiatives. This position develops lesson plans, educational resources, and comprehensive presentations using PowerPoint, technology platforms, social media, and other communication tools to educate students, faculty, staff, and visitors on safety-related topics. The coordinator is responsible for collecting, maintaining, and reporting data related to federal and state educational reporting requirements. Additionally, this role collaborates with university departments, student organizations, and community partners to develop and coordinate educational programs, outreach activities, and special events that support campus safety and engagement initiatives. This position manages the department's social media platforms by providing timely, accurate, and relevant information to the campus community. The coordinator also serves as the department's Accreditation Manager, coordinating activities and documentation required for accreditation through the Texas Police Chiefs Association. Create lesson plans, presentations, and resource materials and teach various safety-related topics to the Lamar University community. Support LUPD at various events by providing security, distributing information, guiding visitors, and engaging with parents and potential students. Participate in outreach activities, educational programs, and special events that support the educational initiatives of LUPD. Coordinate and collaborate with campus departments to develop educational programs and events, while collecting and maintaining data necessary to support federal and state reporting requirements.
