The mission of the Sexual Assault Resource Center is to support survivors of sexual violence through advocacy, counseling, and crisis intervention and work to end sexual violence in the Brazos Valley. Job Description The Rural Outreach Coordinator plans and implements external communications and outreach activities primarily in multiple counties across the Brazos Valley including Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson, and Washington in order to increase awareness, involvement, and understanding of the organization among clients, current and prospective donors, partners, constituents and Brazos Valley community at-large. This position acts as support to the Outreach Department through research, coordination, and implementation of outreach opportunities. The Rural Outreach Coordinator is innovative and forward thinking and integral in creating and maintaining positive relationships with SARC clients, donors, and governmental constituents. This position works directly with additional Outreach Coordinator(s). Outreach and Events Coordination Assist in the planning and coordination of community events for the purposes of public education and outreach around these topics but not limited to sexual violence, trauma, assault, and dating violence to meet the targets per VOCA and SAPCS-State funding. Collaborate with the Outreach Department to develop an annual calendar of events and track progress accordingly. Develop creative promotional information including press releases, flyers, social media outreach, and other outreach materials. Assist in monthly reports and metric tracking to ensure grant and program compliance Education Program Support Assist the Outreach Department with planning and implementation of prevention and education materials and presentations for a wide target audience including men, women, youth, schools, and seniors impacted by sexual assault or trauma, dating violence, and other trauma based education for a variety of service providers and community partners. Coordinate center sponsored seminars, conferences, and training sessions for area professionals including clergy, medical professionals, psychologists, district attorney's about SARC Services and eff ects sexual violence and/or related topics so that they may better serve survivors of sexual assault. Conduct workshops and tabling events on topics related to the mission of SARC as requested. Participate in identifying education opportunities with the constituency group provided by the Outreach Department Direct Client Services Share equal responsibility with all staff to respond to clients by answering the crisis hotline, advocating for clients through hospital and law enforcement accompaniments, and providing support for walk-in clients as needed. Serve as back up to advocates as Staff on Call on weeknights on a rotating basis with other staff members. Work closely with all agencies and professionals outside SARC who deliver services to sexual assault survivors Volunteer Recruitment & Coordination Work with the Volunteer Manager to schedule volunteers for tabling/outreach events and ongoing projects. Coordinate eff orts to utilize outreach and education as a volunteer advocate recruitment opportunity. Education Bachelor's Degree in education, communications or social sciences or the equivalent skills, training, and experience. Continuing Education Must complete 40-hour volunteer advocacy training within the fi rst 6 months of employment. Attend TAASA sponsored, or other related organizations sponsored programs and webinars or read recommended material to continue to enhance knowledge based skills Preferred Qualifications High premium placed on organizational skills; maintain multiple databases for internal and external use. High premium placed on communication skills; community outreach skill public speaking & media relations savvy required and/or can be cultivated. High premium placed on program or curriculum development; ability to develop, plan, implement programs and curriculum within a reasonable time structure that reflect SARC's mission and goals.
