Position Description The DRE is primarily responsible for planning and implementing the Children/Youth Religious Exploration Program (RE) of the Fellowship while working closely with and under the supervision of the Minister. She/He/They implements strategies established to meet objectives and goals established by the Board of Trustees, the Minister, and the Parents of children and youth in the Fellowship. Additional responsibilities include the planning and implementing of other community outreach programs for the Fellowship to enhance goals of the RE program and to enhance the visibility of the Fellowship in the surrounding area. The DRE must demonstrate a willingness to become familiar with the culture and dynamics of the Fellowship and the Unitarian Universalist religious movement. This is a part-time position which will include the majority of Sunday mornings with special emphasis on the program year from Mid-August to the beginning of June. Mid-June through Mid-August can be used for preparing for program our year. There could be possible Summer programming if families in RE are willing to participate. Position Responsibilities 1. The DRE communicates with the minister and parents of children/youth for development of family-centered programming. 2. The DRE assists in recruiting, training, supervising, and supporting the volunteer teaching and advisory staff of the RE program. 3. The DRE advocates for and publicizes the RE program through monthly newsletter articles, flyers, and the development of an annual brochure and a prospectus. 4. The DRE maintains supplies and equipment used in the program and the RE library and other teaching resources. 5. The DRE, in conjunction with the Minister advises, plans, and participates in special and multi-generational events and worship, including the Time for All Ages portion of the service. 6. The DRE manages the budget and expenses of the program. 7. The DRE teaches children and youth in RE programming with assistance from volunteers. And the DRE manages RE volunteers, which includes getting background checks on any RE volunteers 8. The DRE attends RE conferences and workshops to remain cognizant of the latest educational methods and curriculum and shares this information with teachers and the parents of children and youth in the program. 9. The DRE plans and implements other community outreach programs for the Fellowship to enhance the visibility of the Fellowship in the surrounding area. 10. The DRE makes sure that the RE program adheres to all UUFVB Policies, particularly the Safe Congregation Policy. Skills and Knowledge 1. Ability to speak/present to a group 2.
