Senior Pastor About the Role Christian Hills Church is seeking a Worship Director to lead our congregation in Sunday worship and oversee the full team that makes it happen, musicians and vocalists as well as the tech, lighting, and lyrics/production volunteers. This is a leadership role, not just a musical one: the right person will shepherd volunteers across every part of the worship experience, build a healthy team culture, and plan services that point people toward Jesus. Key Responsibilities Worship Leadership Plan and lead weekly worship services in coordination with the Senior Pastor and sermon series Recruit, schedule, rehearse, and shepherd a team of volunteer musicians and vocalists Select songs and build set lists that serve the congregation and the message each week Lead weekly rehearsals with excellence and a spirit of encouragement Plan and execute worship for special services (Christmas, Easter, baptisms, other church-wide events) Production & Tech Leadership Recruit, schedule, and lead volunteer teams for sound, lighting, lyrics/slides, and video Ensure lyrics, media, and visual cues are prepared and run smoothly during services Set direction for the look and feel of services in partnership with the Senior Pastor Train new production volunteers and maintain consistency across teams as they rotate Team & Ministry Management Recruit and develop new musicians, vocalists, tech, and production volunteers over time Build and maintain a serving schedule across all worship-related teams (music and production) Manage the worship ministry budget and equipment needs, including tech and lighting gear Disciple and pastorally care for everyone serving on a worship team, not just direct them Stay current on worship trends, songs, and production practices while remaining rooted in the church's theological convictions Qualifications A growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with the church's mission and doctrinal beliefs 3+ years of experience leading worship in a church setting (paid staff or significant volunteer leadership) Strong vocal ability and proficiency on at least one instrument (guitar or piano preferred) Demonstrated ability to lead and shepherd a team of volunteers, not just perform Experience with worship planning and production tools (e.g., Planning Center, Proclaim) preferred Experience leading or coordinating tech/production volunteers (sound, lighting, lyrics/slides) a strong plus, even if not the applicant's primary background Strong communication and relational skills; able to give and receive feedback well Comfortable leading a live band with both structure and flexibility Organized enough to build and manage a serving schedule across multiple volunteer teams About Christian Hills Church Christian Hills Church has been a steady presence in the Orland Hills community since 1927. We're a Christ-centered, Bible-based congregation shaped by the Holy Spirit, with a simple aim: help people connect with God and connect with each other. We're part of the Fellowship of Christian Assemblies (FCA), a network of churches around the world. Sunday worship runs from 10:00-11:30 AM at our Orland Hills campus, and our church also operates Christian Hills School alongside a full range of ministries for kids, students, adults, and seniors.
