Job Description

The Coordinator of Liturgical Ministries leads minister recruitment efforts and provides leadership, organization, and support for the parish's liturgical volunteer ministries. This role ensures that all liturgical functions are carried out with reverence, consistency, and in accordance with Catholic norms. The Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for volunteers and fosters a spirit of hospitality, collaboration, and service within the parish community. 1. Ministry Coordination & Oversight Oversee all parish liturgical ministries, including Sacristans, Lectors, Ushers, Altar Servers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Greeters, and Donut Sunday volunteers. Ensure all ministries are adequately staffed for weekend Masses, holy days, and special liturgies. Maintain clear communication with ministry members regarding expectations, schedules, and updates. 2. Scheduling Manage regular ministry schedules (weekly/monthly/seasonal). If needed, coordinate substitutes and address last-minute scheduling needs. Utilize scheduling software or tools as appropriate. 3. Training & Formation Organize and lead a training session for new and existing volunteers. Ensure all ministers understand their roles, responsibilities, and liturgical norms. Provide ongoing formation and encouragement to promote reverent and meaningful participation in the liturgy. 4. Volunteer Support & Communication Serve as the primary contact person for all liturgical ministers. Address questions, concerns, and conflicts in a timely and pastoral manner. Foster a welcoming and supportive environment for all volunteers. 5. Collaboration Work closely with clergy and parish staff to support the overall liturgical life of the parish. Assist in planning for special liturgies (e.g., Christmas, Holy Week, Easter, funerals, weddings). 6. Quality & Consistency Promote consistency and excellence across all liturgical ministries. Periodically observe ministries and provide constructive feedback as needed.
Qualifications:
Practicing Catholic with a strong understanding of the Mass and liturgical ministries. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple schedules and coordinate volunteers effectively. Experience in parish ministry or volunteer coordination preferred. Pastoral sensitivity and ability to work with diverse groups of people. Flexible hours, including weekends and occasional evenings. Presence at weekend Masses and major liturgical celebrations is expected. Goal of the
