PWC offers multiple worship experiences, including children, youth, small-group, and senior-adult ministries, as well as community service opportunities in partnership with Hillcrest, Della Lamb, Lazarus Table, and other local mission and ministry partners. Job Overview:
This director-level position at Platte Woods Church helps the congregation live out its mission, vision, values, and shared practices through Mission, Service, and Justice (MSJ) Ministries. The role centers on mobilizing people through volunteer leadership, shared partnerships, relationship building, ministry collaboration, and faithful administration. The Director of MSJ Ministries provides strategic direction for PWC's shared practice of GO through acts of mercy and justice and pilgrimage. MSJ Ministries focuses primarily on connecting the congregation with people, partners, and needs in the wider community, while care ministries focus primarily on care and support within the congregation. The director curates pathways for participation through shared partnerships and volunteer-led opportunities, supports external aspects of PWC's direct assistance protocols, and ensures safe environments for vulnerable adults, students, and children, including Safe Gatherings protocols.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership, Teaching, and Vision:
Apply the mission, vision, values, and practices of PWC to set the vision for and provide direction to MSJ Ministries, with particular attention to GO through acts of mercy and justice and pilgrimage
Leadership, Teaching, and Vision Continued:
Curate and facilitate pathways for the PWC community to engage in acts of mercy and justice and pilgrimage through shared partnerships, volunteer leadership, and thoughtfully created opportunities Engage in personal and professional educational opportunities to continually develop MSJ Ministries and expand skills and knowledge for personal and professional development Represent MSJ Ministries in collaborative ministry activities and provide guidance for integrating acts of mercy and justice and pilgrimage throughout the church Continually assess MSJ Ministries and their effectiveness; develop, with the ministry supervisor, a model for success that reflects PWC's mission, vision, values, and shared practices
Community Partnerships & External Engagement:
Build reciprocal relationships with community leaders and partners to discern the most faithful and effective ways PWC can be a positive community resource Cultivate, evaluate, recommend, and facilitate MSJ partnerships with existing ministries and community agencies
- In collaboration with the Care Team, coordinate PWC's Direct Assistance Program, including relationships with agency partners (currently the Hillcrest Platte County Blessings Program and Northland Assistance) and community referral pathways for persons requesting assistance.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of community resources, helping connect people with the agencies and services best equipped to respond to their needs.
Volunteer Mobilization & Communication:
Identify, recruit, equip, and empower leaders within the church to serve as the driving force of MSJ Ministries at PWC
- Build meaningful relationships with MSJ volunteers and community partners
- Work with other PWC ministry leaders to involve volunteers and leaders from other ministry areas in acts of mercy and justice and pilgrimage
- Oversee and offer staff support for the volunteer-led Justice Ministry Team and connect its work to PWC's broader MSJ Ministries Effectively communicate and promote the MSJ vision, partnerships, and opportunities to students, parents, staff, and the broader church through preapproved digital and physical communication methods Coordinate shared-partnership and volunteer-led MSJ opportunities, including service experiences and serve-and-learn pilgrimages; arrange transportation, accommodations, and volunteer support as needed
Administration and Setup:
Develop and maintain an annual budget pertaining to ministry expenses following guidelines set by church leadership Responsible for implementing and maintaining PWC rules and policies related to the safety and security of volunteers, including children, teens, and vulnerable adults who may be participating, utilizing background checks and Safe Gatherings training as needed Utilize the church database according to current processes, maintain accurate enrollment/attendance records, and contact information
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS
Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience with a proven track record of skilled leadership in local church ministry. Ability to pass a background check and complete Safe Gatherings training to obtain knowledge to protect children, youth, and vulnerable adults. Demonstrates a strong faith in Jesus Christ. Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships across church, nonprofit, and community settings. Demonstrates strong organizational skills. Exhibits exceptional oral and written communication skills. Demonstrates experience recruiting, equipping, empowering, and retaining volunteers in leadership opportunities within the ministry. Commits to working with staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, and community partners to cultivate a shared and collaborative ministry environment. Pay:
$40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
