Seeking a church schoolteacher for a vibrant Sunday school program in Bronxville, NY. The teacher will be working under the guidance of our Director and Associate Director of Children s and Youth Ministry. Consistent with state law, a background check will be required as a condition of hire.

Location:

Bronxville, NY (on-site at the Church)

Schedule:

2 scheduled hours a week from 9:30am-11:30am (up to 20-25 Sundays a year), plus annual training

Pay:

$50/hour

Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of experience working with elementary-aged kids, preferably in a classroom or camp setting. Interest in arts and crafts and telling stories to kids. Experience or interest in Godly Play (Montessori-based approach to religious education) is a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Patience, reliability and a passion for working with children.

Responsibilities include the following:

Serving as lead teacher for our weekly 3rd grade church school class, supported by a volunteer assistant each week. Review provided lesson plans, arts and crafts and other activities planned for the day ahead of church school. Communicating with Director, Associate Director, volunteers and parents regarding program updates and otherwise as needed. Attend mandatory training meetings held each year. Other duties as assigned.
