Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant will co-lead with the Executive Director in planning and implementing programs that meet the physical, spiritual and social needs of individuals served. This position will be missionally focused as well as sensitive to the needs of the vulnerable population served by the organization. The position will provide strong strategic support in donor development, volunteer engagement, community engagement, fundraising initiatives, grant-writing and programming. Additionally, this position will lead efforts in marketing, social media and data-collection for grants.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in religious studies; or human services; or business administration; with experience in fundraising and donor development;
  • Agreement with the mission and vision of Sojourner Truth Ministries, Inc.;
  • One year's experience in Christian ministry (3 - 5 years preferrable)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills,
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills;
  • Team-player and willingness to learn and take direction;
  • Conflict resolution and deescalation skills
  • Culturally sensitive and respectful to the patrons that we serve.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid driver's license carrying adequate insurance;
  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Check, Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Clearance (when applicable) prior to start date;
  • Safe Sanctuaries Training during the orientation week;
  • Computer experience with word processing, web-browsing, Canva, and database management.
  • Grant-writing, donor development and fundraising experience.
  • Physical ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations, including the ability to sit for long periods of time, walk stairs, stand, lift and carry up to 20 pounds, have unrestricted use of upper and lower body and a clear speaking voice; and,
  • Participation in job-related training, including First Aid, CPR, Mental health First Aid, etc.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
  • Active part in the leadership of the ministry;
  • Grant research, preparation, writing and submission;
  • Staff participation in board meetings and board committees assigned;
  • Works with board committees.
  • Engaging in strategic planning and implementation;
  • Responsible for planning and facilitating events;
  • Responsible for marketing and social media presence;
  • Co-directs daily administrative functions effectively, including scheduling, volunteer coordination, recordkeeping, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Does daily devotions and ensures a steady rotation of speakers for lunchtime programming;
  • Assists the Executive Director in helping individuals with their spiritual needs;
  • Assists with daily devotions when needs arise;
  • Coordination and supervision of office volunteers.
  • Coordinates the dinner church schedule.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Knowledge and embrace of our mission, vision and ministry philosophy;
  • Strong reputation in the community;
  • Computer skills, word processing and social media skills;
  • General administrative skills, teachable and adaptable;
  • Program management and the supervision of program staff.
Pay:
$45,922.46 - $55,304.48 per year
