The coordinator creates a safe, welcoming, organized, and Christ-centered environment where children can Belong, Believe, and Become while partnering with leaders and parents to help children grow in their knowledge of God's Word and relationship with Jesus Christ. Specific Duties Recruit, train, schedule, and support AWANA leaders, directors, and large group teachers. Plan and coordinate the annual AWANA calendar, theme nights, Family Nights, Parent Workshops, Pinewood Derby, and Awards Ceremony. Coordinate weekly volunteer requests and substitutes through Planning Center. Maintain AWANA attendance, progress charts, verse records, binders, supplies, and awards. Record completed AWANA class sections and prepare weekly and annual awards. Send weekly AWANA communications to parents and leaders regarding reminders, upcoming events, training, and weekly sections. Send guest postcards, birthday cards, and encouragement cards to children and leaders. Monitor volunteer background checks and required training. Update quarterly songs and Scripture verses on ProPresenter for the opening ceremonies. Coordinate photography dates with the Crossway Director of Media Ministry to record special events. Monitor and restock classrooms with needed snacks, water, and cleaning supplies. Ensure that AWANA directors and volunteers have what they need for their areas of service. Examples include supplies for crafts, games, and teaching materials. Check classrooms/spaces and set up for check-in and opening ceremony each week. Lead AWANA huddles. Roam during AWANA and check on all classes/programming. Direct and assist volunteers to clean and reset AWANA spaces after Wednesday programming. Provide ongoing support and encouragement to AWANA leaders, children, and families. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Kids Ministry or Family Pastor. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of children's ministry and a passion for discipling children Strong organizational, administrative, communication, and time-management skills Ability to recruit, train, coordinate, encourage, and equip volunteers Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, events, schedules, and deadlines Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping Ability to work independently and as part of a ministry team Ability to anticipate needs, solve problems, and take initiative Ability to communicate eSectively with children, parents, volunteers, and church staS Proficiency with basic church scheduling, communication, and record-keeping systems Other Responsibilities and Expectations Demonstrate a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Support and align with the mission, vision, values, and beliefs of Crossway Church. Model a Christ-centered attitude and lifestyle for children, families, and volunteers. Serve with a genuine love for children, families, volunteers, and the local church. Practice the personal stewardship of your finances consistent with Scripture, including tithing (which means a tenth) of at least your income from Crossway back to the church. Maintain a safe, welcoming, organized, and encouraging ministry environment. Complete all required church training, child-safety training, and background-check requirements. Attend required AWANA meetings, huddles, trainings, and special events. Be present and actively engaged during Wednesday night AWANA programming. Communicate proactively with the Kids Ministry team. Work cooperatively with church staS, ministry leaders, volunteers, and parents. Maintain a positive, encouraging, and servant-hearted attitude. Uphold Crossway Church policies, procedures, and standards.
