Job Description

The College of Westchester, an Associate degree- and Baccalaureate degree-granting college in White Plains, is seeking a full-time Admissions Counselor for High School in our Admissions department. The Admissions Counselor for High School is responsible for recruiting and enrolling high school students through a combination of field-based recruitment and direct admissions counseling. The Counselor develops relationships with assigned high schools, generates prospective student inquiries through presentations and outreach, and works directly with those students and families throughout the admissions process This is a full-cycle recruitment role. The Admissions Counselor for High School is accountable for assigned recruitment activity and enrollment goals, from developing high school relationships and generating inquiries through interviews, applications, applicant engagement, enrollment, and start. Working under the direction of the Assistant Director of Admissions for High School, the Counselor maintains an active presence in assigned schools while providing consistent, personalized follow-up with prospective students and families to achieve the College's enrollment goals.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required. Two to three years of related experience in higher education admissions, recruitment, consultative sales, customer service, or a comparable field. Strong communication, interviewing, relationship-building, and customer service skills. Strong public speaking and presentation skills with the ability to engage high school students, families, counselors, teachers, and administrators. Ability to establish rapport, understand student needs, and effectively communicate educational opportunities. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to balance field recruitment and admissions responsibilities. Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, social media, texting, and other communication platforms. Ability to use data and established performance metrics to manage recruitment activity and student pipelines. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to travel throughout the College's recruitment territory and work evenings and Saturdays as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
High School Recruitment & Inquiry Generation Establish and maintain relationships with assigned public and private high schools throughout the College's recruitment territory. Develop relationships with guidance counselors, administrators, teachers, and other key school personnel. Schedule and conduct classroom presentations, application days, workshops, information sessions, and other recruitment activities. Represent CW at college fairs, career events, and other high school programs. Generate prospective student inquiries and appointments through school-based recruitment activity. Meet established goals for school visits, presentations, inquiry generation, appointments, applications, and enrollments. Identify opportunities to expand CW's presence within assigned schools and generate additional student engagement. Maintain accurate school profiles, contacts, calendars, visit reports, and recruitment activity within appropriate systems. Student Recruitment & Admissions Counseling Contact prospective students and assess their interests, needs, and fit with The College of Westchester. Schedule and conduct admissions interviews with students and families. Present appropriate academic programs, career opportunities, scholarships, financial aid resources, and the overall CW student experience. Guide students through the application and admissions process. Maintain consistent communication and follow-up with prospective students and families from inquiry through enrollment and start. Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned applicants and coordinate required enrollment activities, including Financial Aid, registration, orientation, and other next steps. Recommend qualified applicants for admission and ensure required documentation is complete and accurate. Maintain accurate and timely CRM documentation of student communication, activity, status, and next steps. Applicant Engagement & Enrollment Conversion Actively manage an assigned student pipeline and maintain momentum throughout the enrollment process. Achieve established individual activity, application, conversion, and enrollment goals. Identify students who have stalled or become disengaged and implement appropriate follow-up strategies. Build relationships with parents and other key influencers throughout the college decision process. Encourage applicant participation in Open Houses, Accepted Student events, scholarship programs, workshops, and other enrollment activities. Collaborate with Financial Aid, Admissions Operations, Academics, Advising, and other departments to help students overcome enrollment barriers. Maintain student engagement through the start of classes. Team & Recruitment Support Work closely with the Assistant Director of Admissions for High School to execute the College's high school recruitment strategy. Participate in regular pipeline, territory, activity, and performance reviews. Share school intelligence, recruitment opportunities, student feedback, and competitive information with the High School Admissions team. Collaborate with other Admissions Counselors to provide appropriate school coverage and support departmental enrollment goals. Participate in training, recruitment planning, and continuous improvement initiatives. Support Dual Enrollment, Jumpstart, scholarship initiatives, workshops, and other high school recruitment programs as assigned. General Responsibilities Collaborative team member with a commitment to open cross departmental cooperation and communication; a commitment to the College's mission and vision, a sense of service to the College's diverse student population and all internal and external constituencies. Take personal accountability in working with human resources on matters such as benefits deadlines, timely submission of time worked and time off. Be an ambassador of good will in assisting with recruitment, retention and placement. Attend CW events including Commencement, employee and student events, student recruitment events, college wide events such as Quarterly Meetings, Honor Society Inductions Ceremonies, etc. Uphold and model the CW Way philosophy in all interactions. Perform other duties as assigned.
Annual Salary Range :
