Processes approximately 1,500+ incoming VA certifications, ensures necessary documents are submitted, calculates tuition and fees, and performs data entry as necessary via UTEP/VA systems such as Perceptive Content, Banner, and Enrollment Manager (EM). Processes incoming VA certification requests, ensures necessary documents are submitted, and performs data entry as necessary. Maintains knowledge of various benefits and services available and regulations governing their administration. Provides assistance to veterans/dependents in securing benefits due and monitors programs to ensure veterans are receiving all benefits entitled to. Processes various internal VA reports, submits updates to enrollment certifications and grades. Resolves problems regarding eligibility and payment of VA benefits with appropriate entities. Maintains knowledge of various benefits, VA legislation changes, services available and regulations governing their administration. Processes incoming VA overpayments in collaboration with Student Business Services. Reports grades and withdrawals to the VA as necessary. Processes student's changes in schedule in a timely manner to the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA). Answers questions from students over e-mail regarding MSSC and VA related inquiries. Provides assistance over email to active duty/veterans/dependents with benefits and general VA questions. Prepares or assists active duty/veterans/dependents in preparation of appropriate benefits claim forms and other documentation. Assists in resolving problems encountered by active duty/veterans/dependents by seeking out information as necessary. Maintains knowledge of policies and regulations governing the administration of Veteran Affairs benefits. Composes, prepares, proofreads confidential correspondence, reports, and other complex documents; files correspondence and other reports; acts as custodians of university documents and records. Assists and or leads VA compliance surveys (audits), including preparation of files for compliance visits. Assists with orientation sessions/welcome days for new/transfer students as needed. Aids in the training of new hires within the department. Assists in seeing students and working additional hours during peak periods. Serves as liaison to VA regional offices, University departments or administrative areas. Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems. Complies with all State and University policies. Other duties may be assigned.
