The Admissions Officer and Designated School Official (DSO) supports student recruitment, admissions, enrollment, and international student services. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Services, this position works closely with prospective and current students and serves as a key resource for F-1 international student advising and SEVIS compliance.
Essential Functions:
Recruit and communicate with prospective students through phone, email, virtual meetings, education fairs, seminars, and other outreach activities. Review admissions applications and supporting documents to determine applicant eligibility. Conduct student interviews, campus tours, orientations, and information sessions. Maintain accurate student records and admissions data in institutional systems. Serve as a DSO and maintain accurate and timely F-1 student records in SEVIS. Issue and update I-20s, including initial I-20s, SEVIS transfers, program extensions, and other student record updates. Advise F-1 students on maintaining status, enrollment requirements, travel, employment, CPT, OPT, and other immigration-related matters. Process and review CPT/OPT requests and other F-1 student requests in accordance with applicable regulations and institutional policies. Monitor international student enrollment and status requirements and follow up on compliance-related matters. Stay informed of SEVP regulations, SEVIS procedures, and changes affecting international students. Prepare reports and analyze admissions, enrollment, and recruitment data to identify trends and opportunities. Assist with recruitment initiatives, student workshops, orientations, seminars, and cultural activities. Maintain confidentiality when handling student, academic, and immigration records. Work occasional evenings and weekends for recruitment events, orientations, seminars, and other institutional activities. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification:
Associate's degree with 3-5 years of relevant experience; Bachelor's degree with 1-3 years of relevant experience preferred. Experience in admissions, student services, higher education, international education, or a related field preferred. Previous
DSO/SEVIS
experience strongly preferred. U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, as required for DSO eligibility.
Preferred Skills:
Proficiency with computer software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Effective problem-solving skills coupled with strong oral and written communication. Strong organizational and communication skills and attention to detail. Ability to handle multiple assignments in a professional and efficient manner.
Expected Schedule :
Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00PM, 40 per week, fully onsite (occasionally on the weekend depending on business needs).
