Longwood University invites applications for the Admissions Counselor (FA054) position in the Office of Admissions. The successful candidate will provide the first contact for students interested in choosing Longwood as their college. Longwood Admissions Counselors assist prospective students and their families with all aspects of the enrollment process, including fielding inquiries, needs assessment and referrals, and financial aid information. Admissions Counselors will be the primary recruiters in specific geographical areas assisting with meeting the overall needs of the Longwood admissions team, including supporting events and visits to campus, evaluating and processing applications, and participating in outreach campaigns. This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on Longwood University's campus. In addition to campus duties, overnight travel will be required. Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Represent Longwood to a wide and diverse audience in a front-line capacity or at high schools, community colleges and at college fair programs Develop a travel schedule, within a geographic territory to include, but not limited to, managing relationships with high schools and assisting with implementing recruitment and yield plans Coordinate and implement on and off-campus events, working with various campus offices and academic departments, as well as external clients and vendors Develop and maintain communication with prospective students throughout the recruitment process Monitor recruitment, application, and enrollment activities within territory Evaluate student applications and credentials and make admission decisions Coordinate, organize and conduct presentations for group visits to campus Conduct presentations and tours for prospective students and families at weekday and weekend information sessions Assist with other admissions and recruitment activities Other duties as assigned Requirements:
Bachelor's degree Valid driver's license Training and/or experience working with youth and a variety of different populations, sales, admissions, recruitment, or higher education Excellent oral and written and interpersonal communication skills Ability to address multiple audiences in a variety of small and large settings, organizational and interpersonal skills Attentive to detail, well-organized, able to manage multiple priorities and work well under pressure Demonstrated ability to create a unique, high-touch customer service experience that consistently exceeds expectations Collaborative, energetic and resourceful work style Ability to quickly learn and utilize different computer software and technologies Must be available to work a schedule that includes frequent evenings, weekends, and out-of-town travel Preference will be given to candidates who have a successful record of implementing new and innovative approaches to improve new student enrollment outcomes Additional Information:
This position is a full-time, administrative & professional faculty, exempt position. A successful fingerprint based criminal background investigation is required.
