Non-Exempt Position Summary Greensboro Elementary School The School Social Worker provides holistic, family-centered services to support student success while addressing underlying barriers to stability, including economic hardship associated with under- or unemployment of parents or those acting in parental roles for students (e.g., kinship caregiver). The School Social Worker role integrates traditional school social work practices with workforce development strategies to promote long-term self-sufficiency for families.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS LBSW

Alabama Social Work license. Experience working with families and/or children. Prior experience in a school setting is a plus. Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama driver's license and current auto insurance. Must have reliable transportation for business use. Must be cleared through the Child Abuse Central Registry and pass a background check Works under the direction of Director of School Social Workers Program

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct Services to Students and Families Provide crisis intervention and case management Conduct home visits and maintain consistent communication with families Develop service plans that address both social-emotional needs and economic instability associated with workforce participation challenges/barriers Develop family engagement activities that foster parent participation in school events Assess caregiver employment status, barriers, and workforce readiness Connect families to workforce training, credentialing, and employment opportunities Support enrollment and engagement in workforce programs Monitor progress toward employment and career goals Recruit students to attend after-school and summer enrichment programs School Collaboration Participate in case conferences (IEP, PST, 504, behavior plans) Coordinate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to support student success 1 of 2 May 2026 Ensure alignment between academic interventions and family stability efforts Community Partnerships Serve as a liaison between school, family, community resources, and workforce partners Maintain relationships with training providers, employers, and support agencies Facilitate referrals and ensure follow-up on services Assessment and Case Management Conduct comprehensive assessments, including social, emotional, and economic factors Continuously evaluate family needs and adjust service plans accordingly Promote protective factors that support long-term stability Data Collection and Reporting Maintain accurate and timely documentation Track service delivery and outcomes, including workforce-related metrics Submit required reports in accordance with agency and contract guidelines
