Clinical/Practice Leadership Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and clinically minded Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) to join our outpatient pediatric clinic in a unique behavioral-health role focused specifically on emotional regulation, coping skills, and social-emotional development . This position is designed to support children and adolescents who may struggle with emotional regulation, anxiety, frustration tolerance, behavioral challenges, transitions, social skills, or other social-emotional concerns that impact their ability to function successfully at home, at school, or within the community. This is not a DHR/social-services case-management position. The LMSW will not be responsible for investigating families, removing children from the home, managing foster-care cases, or performing traditional child-welfare functions. Instead, this role is embedded within an outpatient pediatric clinical setting , allowing the social worker to work directly with children and families in a therapeutic, supportive, and skills-based capacity. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, understands child development, and is excited about helping pediatric patients learn how to identify, understand, communicate, and regulate their emotions . Key Responsibilities Provide outpatient social-work services to pediatric patients experiencing emotional, behavioral, and social-emotional challenges. Work individually with children and adolescents to develop age-appropriate emotional-regulation and coping skills. Help children recognize and communicate emotions, identify triggers, and develop healthier responses to frustration, anger, anxiety, sadness, and other difficult emotions. Utilize developmentally appropriate interventions, activities, games, worksheets, and therapeutic techniques to make emotional-regulation work engaging and accessible to children. Support children in developing skills related to: Emotional identification and expression Self-regulation Coping skills Frustration tolerance Impulse control Problem-solving Communication Social skills Conflict resolution Adjustment to change and transitions Collaborate with parents and caregivers to reinforce emotional-regulation strategies outside of the clinic. Provide parent education and coaching regarding children's emotional and behavioral needs. Identify patterns or environmental factors that may contribute to emotional or behavioral difficulties and help families develop practical strategies. Collaborate with pediatric providers and other members of the care team to support the child's overall well-being. Participate in care planning and communicate relevant clinical observations with appropriate members of the treatment team. Make appropriate referrals to community resources or higher levels of behavioral-health care when clinically indicated. Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential clinical documentation. Complete required assessments and documentation in accordance with clinic policies and applicable professional standards. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and protect patient confidentiality. Is comfortable discussing emotions and behaviors with both children and parents. Is creative and able to make therapeutic interventions engaging for pediatric patients. Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills. Can establish trust and rapport with children and families. Is comfortable collaborating with physicians, nurses, behavioral-health professionals, and other healthcare providers. Can recognize when a child needs additional behavioral-health or community-based services. Is organized, dependable, and able to maintain appropriate clinical documentation. Approaches families with empathy, respect, and a strengths-based perspective.
