Job Description

Join Our Team and Help Build Strong Families! Tuskegee-Macon County Head Start is looking for a compassionate, organized, and service-oriented Family Service Advocate to join our Family and Community Partnership team. As a Family Service Advocate I, you will work directly with children and families to provide support, advocacy, and case management services that promote family well- being and children's school readiness. You will build meaningful relationships with families, connect them to community resources, assist with enrollment and attendance, and help families achieve their goals through individualized support and referrals. What You'll Do As a Family Service Advocate I, you will: Manage an assigned caseload of Head Start families. Conduct family needs assessments and develop Family Partnership Agreements. Provide ongoing case management and follow-up services. Connect families with community resources and supportive services. Assist families in achieving personal and family goals. Conduct home visits, family conferences, and regular follow-up contacts. Monitor child attendance and work with families to address attendance concerns. Assist with recruitment, eligibility determination, enrollment, and maintaining funded enrollment. Support families in obtaining medical, dental, and other required health services. Encourage participation in Head Start activities, Parent Committees, Policy Council, and family engagement events. Maintain accurate documentation and case records using the program's data management system. Collaborate with teachers, health staff, disabilities staff, mental health consultants, and community partners to provide comprehensive services. Participate in community outreach and recruitment activities. Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, agency policies, and applicable state and federal regulations. Minimum Qualifications An associate degree in one of the following fields: Human Services Social Work Family Studies Psychology Sociology Counseling Related field A Family Development Credential or the ability to obtain one may be required. A bachelor's degree is preferred.
Experience Qualified candidates should have:
Experience working with children and families in a social service, education, community outreach, or human services setting. Experience with case management, family advocacy, or community resources preferred. Head Start or Early Head Start experience is a plus. Knowledge and Skills The ideal candidate will possess: Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Excellent communication and active listening abilities. Knowledge of community resources and family support services. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Accurate documentation and recordkeeping skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Commitment to serving families with professionalism, empathy, and respect. Additional Requirements Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Reliable transportation and insurance for travel throughout the service area. Ability to conduct home visits and community outreach. Successful completion required criminal background checks and health screenings. CPR and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain certification after hire. Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for family events, recruitment, or community activities.
