SUMMARY:
To act as a resource for students and staff members with the objective of helping students overcome problems that impede their learning; to assist students in making educational, occupational and life plans that hold promise for their personal fulfillment as mature and responsible men and women. ?

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following Provide short-term individual, small-group counseling services, and crisis intervention to address specific student issues (health, behavior, family, emotion, academic achievement, etc.) Collaborate with teachers and parents to provide support and encouragement to discover understanding and methods for effective relating and responding to children. Assist administrators and teachers in developing and implementing educational programs, intervention programs, and crisis response/postvention plans for academic achievement. Develop and deliver in-service Professional Development opportunities and community/parent workshops around data-driven and campus-relevant topic. Maximize access to school-based and community-based resources. Promote a school climate and culture conducive to learning and teaching excellence. Provide problem-solving strategies and counseling to students who are regularly tardy, absent, or have discipline concerns. Implement multi-tier systems of support, programs, and practices. Participate in quarterly school safety assessment and prevention team meetings and required trainings. Ensure equitable access for all students to participate fully in the educational process. Perform other related duties as required by supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines
REQUIRED
Master's Degree Valid Arizona certification in School Social Work. ?
PREFERRED
Previous successful teaching or counseling/social work experience.
Knowledge of:
District and Department policies and procedures; Working knowledge of fundamental operations of relevant software and other equipment. Pertinent local, state and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules.
Skill in:
Excellent organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Use of computers and technology, to include but not limited to email, internet, Microsoft Office or equivalent software. ?
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS A
valid Arizona certification in School Social Work A valid State Driver's License may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed throughout the district and in a standard office environment. Positions in this class typically require: use of hands, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with public and staff.
