POSITION DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Language Accessibility Supervisor, the Outreach Specialist provides direct service to people with developmental disabilities and their families through the Koch-Young Resource Center (KYRC). The role is responsible for supplementing the work of the Client and Family Services Division, supporting the Language Access and Cultural Competency Plan (LACC), increasing service access and utilization of Regional Center and generic services, and education and training sessions for families. The Outreach Specialist provides assistance with outreach, public awareness, and community relations activities of the center. This position works in our Glendale office which is located at 611 N. Brand Blvd. Glendale, CA 91203 on a full-time basis.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent is required to have a working knowledge of the service delivery system for people with developmental disabilities and their families. Must be skilled in working within a Family-Professional Partnership and Information and Referral. Must be able to work effectively with groups and facilitate communications, be knowledgeable in developing a network of community resources, and have the ability to work with a variety of people including those of different cultures and lifestyles. Will possess excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills. Must be competent with computer software applications, including but not limited to, MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. In addition, the incumbent will be able to work in an in-office and off-site work setting and have the ability to attend evening and weekend community events and meetings when required.

QUALIFICATIONS

The incumbent will preferably be an individual who is a parent of a child with a disability or a professional with experience in the area of Family Support. Will have a bachelor's degree in social, behavioral, or life science and four years of professional related experience working with families with children that have special needs and adult individuals with developmental disabilities or a master's degree in the above fields of study with at least two years' experience. A valid California driver's license, current automobile insurance, and adequate transportation to fulfill position responsibility is also required. Bilingual; Armenian/English required Bilingual; Russian/English highly desirable.

Pay:

$5,960.00 - $8,752.00 per month
