POSITION SUMMARY
Serves as the second-in-charge of the Explore afterschool program site, supporting the Afterschool Site Coordinator (ASC) in caring for children and implementing the program during the school year. Functions as a standard afterschool program leader on a daily basis, providing direction for the program and students and implementing program curriculum, while also assuming full site coordinator responsibilities whenever the ASC is absent or unavailable, including opening/closing procedures, staff supervision, parent communication, and site oversight. Provides a quality experience to children and parents. This is a part time position that only operates during the Guadalupe School District calendar days.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Serves as the designated second-in-charge of the site and assumes all Afterschool Site Coordinator duties and authority in the ASC's absence, including staff supervision, daily site operations, and decision-making. 2. Implements daily lesson/activity plans. 3. Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities; in the ASC's absence, provides direction and oversight to other program leaders on site. 4. Maintains positive relationships and effective communication with all parents. Engages parents as volunteers. Serves as the primary point of contact for parents when the ASC is unavailable. 5. Maintains program site and equipment. 6. Maintains required program records, including attendance and site documentation, and ensures records are current in the ASC's absence. 7. Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training and development opportunities. 8. Ensure protection of youth in YMCA programming. 9. Communicates effectively and creates and maintains positive relationships with all YMCA and Guadalupe School District staff including principal, teachers, and other faculty; represents the site with district staff when standing in for the ASC. 10. Actively walks through facility/program engaging with members/participants, keeping vigilant for potential health and/or safety risks, and cleans/disinfects and puts away equipment/supplies. 11. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards. Follows CDC, State, and County Department of Health standards, procedures, and recommendations around health screening, cleaning, and sanitation.

WORK SCHEDULE & SCHOOL BREAKS
This position follows the local school district calendar and is considered a variable-hour, part-time role. Scheduled work is typically available only on regular school days. Monday-Friday 1pm (or 11:40am Wednesdays)-5:30pm. Please note there is no guarantee of scheduled work hours during school break periods, including: Spring Break (approximately 1 week) Summer Break (approximately 8 weeks) Winter Break (approximately 3 weeks) Limited or alternative work opportunities may be available during these periods based on program needs, enrollment, and funding; however, work hours during school breaks are not guaranteed.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school graduate or higher 2. At least 18 years of age 3. Child Abuse prevention training 4. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred. 5. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities. 6. Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds. 7. Pass all parts of mandatory district test as a condition of employment. 8. Complete NEOP within 30 days of hire date. 9. Must pass background check upon hire. 10. Must get TB test within first 2 weeks of hire. 11. Must pass live scan / fingerprinting within 2 weeks of hire.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities. • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for a minimum of 4 hours.
Pay:
$21.00 - $22.00 per hour
