Many of the students served come from under-resourced communities and benefit from individualized academic support that supplements their school-day learning. Through this partnership, Chapman University students will be placed as tutors within the after-school program to provide homework help, academic enrichment, and mentoring. The program aims to improve academic outcomes for K-12 students while providing Chapman undergraduates with valuable pre-professional experience in education and youth development. Position Summary Support classroom delivery of the Healthy Teens Positive Pathways / Seen & Safe curriculum, helping present age-appropriatehuman trafficking and youth safety prevention content to students in partner schools. Content-specific training and directclassroom oversight are provided by the Seen & Safe Program Coordinator, Cecilia Gonzalez. This position supports community residents by helping maintain welcoming spaces and strengthen programs that respond to community needs. Through thiswork, the role will help unsure that essential services and resources are accessible and contribute to residents' quality of life. Responsibilities Co-facilitate or assist in delivering approved Seen & Safe curriculum lessons in classroom settings, under the Program Coordinator's direct oversight Support pre- and post-survey administration for program evaluation Help prepare lesson materials, handouts, and activity supplies Help maintain a safe, age-appropriate learning environment Immediately refer any disclosures or safety concerns to the Program Coordinator per Higher Ground protocol Required Qualifications Currently enrolled Chapman University student receiving a Federal Work-Study award; junior or senior standing preferred Coursework in social work, psychology, education, or a related field is a plus Comfortable presenting to groups of middle school and high school students Strong professionalism, discretion, and comfort with sensitive subject matter Desired Qualifications Spanish language proficiency — bilingual Spanish/English tutors are highly needed to serve the Anaheim community Experience working with diverse populations including English language learners. Experience or coursework in culturally responsive teaching or equity in education CPR /First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Knowledge of elementary or secondary school curriculum and standards Special Instructions to Applicants Must have FWS and complete a Live Scan. Live Scan ( DOJ ) background clearance, TB clearance, mandated reporter training, and completion of Higher Ground's Seen &Safe curriculum training are required before any school-based delivery. All classroom sessions are supervised or co-facilitated bythe Program Coordinator during the first semester. The Seen & Safe curriculum is a secular, evidence-informed preventioneducation program; this position does not involve religious instruction, worship, proselytization, or partisan political activity,and is administered in compliance with 34 CFR Part 675 off-campus Federal Work-Study requirements.
