Job Description
Domestic Violence Shelter Advocate, Pool Staff (On-Call) Coalition for Family Harmony

- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field preferred, but not required. Certifications
- Ability to obtain Domestic Violence Counselor Certification (California Evidence Code 1037.1) within one year of hire.
- Ability to obtain Sexual Assault Counselor Certification (California Evidence Code 1035.2) within one year of hire.
- Completion of agency
LGBTQ+ 101
training within six months of hire. Experience & Skills- Bilingual in English and Spanish (required).
- Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, crisis intervention, shelters, or human services is highly preferred.
- Strong crisis intervention, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Professional, compassionate, and trauma-informed approach when working with survivors from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to accurately maintain client documentation and enter data into the agency database after training.
- Knowledge of California family law procedures is a plus. Physical & Position Requirements
- Ability to work onsite at our confidential emergency shelters located in West Ventura County.
- Ability to climb one flight of stairs and work within a two-story shelter environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 20 pounds.
- Comfortable working in an active residential setting that may include adults, children, and varying noise levels.
- Valid California Driver's License, current automobile insurance, and an acceptable DMV driving record.
- Must successfully pass a Live Scan background check. Schedule and Compensation
- $19.00 per hour , paid semi-monthly
Schedule:
This position fills in for 8-hour shifts as needed. Shifts are 7 am- 3 pm, 3 pm
- 11 pm, and 11 pm
- 7 am.
