Overview Join our dedicated team as a Credentialed CT Department of Children & Families (DCF) Supervised Visitation Worker, where you will play a vital role in ensuring safe, positive, and structured visitation experiences for children and their families. This rewarding position involves supervising visits between children and their non-custodial parents or guardians, promoting healthy relationships while maintaining safety and stability. You will be an essential part of the child welfare and family reunification process, providing support that fosters trust, communication, and emotional well-being. Your energy, compassion, and professionalism will help create a nurturing environment that prioritizes the best interests of children. Duties Supervise and facilitate visitation sessions between children and non-custodial parents or guardians in a safe, neutral setting. Observe interactions to ensure appropriate behavior, emotional safety, and compliance with court orders or service plans. Document visit details accurately, including behavioral observations, any incidents, and parent or child responses. Communicate effectively with families to promote positive engagement while managing conflicts or challenging behaviors. Implement crisis intervention strategies when necessary to de-escalate conflicts or address behavioral issues during visits. Collaborate with case managers, social workers, and other professionals to support family reunification goals. Maintain strict adherence to mandated reporting laws and confidentiality standards to protect client rights and safety. Requirements Proven experience working with children, families, or in social services environments; experience with individuals with disabilities is highly valued. Knowledge of childhood development, behavioral health, child protective services, and crisis management techniques. Strong skills in conflict management, client communication, cultural competency, and case management practices. Familiarity with mandated reporting laws and child welfare procedures to ensure compliance at all times. Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse populations. Ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism and empathy while maintaining clear boundaries. The candidate will be DCF Credentialed for a two year period with renewal after two years, provided no issues arise with ongoing background checks, safety concerns, etc. The following are non-negotiable requirements by the Department of Children & Families. Full Job Description:
A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, or another related field is preferred. Must have a minimum of three years experience working with children in a parent education, teaching, social work, judicial, or counseling setting with a Bachelor's degree or higher . Must have a minimum of seven years experience working with children in a parent education, teaching, social work, judicial, or counseling setting with less than a Bachelor's degree. Minimum HS Diploma with seven years experience or more is required . Must demonstrate excellent writing skills with documentation and competency in assessing parent/child/family interactions.
Responsibilities:
Supervised Visitation workers are responsible for providing transportation and supervision of children and families during family visits. Supervised Visitation workers are also responsible for giving the family positive feedback, suggestions for improvement, and submitting Provider Documentation Reports 48 hours after the visit occurs. Current Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Training is Required. Pay $25.00 per hour. Any mileage over 20 miles is paid the Federal mileage rate per mile. This is a part-time position. Weekend hours available! 75% travel. Applicants that are bi-lingual Spanish & bi-lingual Creole are strongly encouraged to apply. This is an Independent Contractor position. This is not remote work. Work locations are in multiple locations around Connecticut, but primarily in Lower Fairfield County. Flexible work schedule. Applicants who successfully pass requirements and background checks will be DCF (State of CT Department of Children & Families) Credentialed for 2 years (renewable).
