OVERVIEW

As part of the university, the Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center is a federally funded center that operates exemplary elementary and secondary education programs for deaf and hard of hearing students as well as national outreach programs which develop and disseminate innovative curricula, instructional techniques, and products nationwide, and provide information, training, and technical assistance to parents and professionals serving children from birth through age 21.

JM Summary:

Dorm Substitute assist Residence Education personnel with monitoring and supervising high school students; ensures that school policies are followed; tracks attendance and fills out communication logs; covers campus activities; and assists students with homework assignments.



This is on-call position and the hours vary.

Qualifications:

Minimum two years college/university coursework; Knowledge and understanding of adolescent needs and characteristics and deafness; familiarity with residence hall program management and student discipline; willingness to work evenings, overnight, and on weekends; First aid/CPR certification required or willingness to obtain; Fluency in American Sign Language required.

Required Orientation Training:

dates to be announced All employees hired must undergo and pay for a background investigation if selected for the job and must be cleared before starting the first day on the job. The current fee for the investigation can range from $35 to $135, depending on location. Background Check and SARP must be in good standing.
