NON-EXEMPT POSITION SUMMARY
The Community Education Advocate is responsible for assisting with the implementation of sexual violence prevention education in our service area of Duval, Baker, and Nassau counties. The position requires the individual to facilitate trainings and presentations within the community with a diverse population including adolescents, students and faculty of colleges and universities, and community members. The position will assist with efforts designed to impact social norms, including social marketing campaigns. The position is responsible for assisting with the implementation of project deliverables to ensure that project goals and deliverables are met. The Community Education Advocate is responsible for assisting with implementation of programs focused on life skills, sexual assault prevention, and teaching bystander intervention to reduce the number of sexual assaults in our community.WORKPLACE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, criminal justice or other related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum one year experience conducting presentations to the community, students, and/or professionals.
- Basic knowledge of sexual assault and survivor characteristics.
- Competency in Microsoft Office, Canva and online researching techniques.
PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES
- Assists with implementation of required surveys.
- Facilitates trainings, presentations, workshops and other learning activities within the community.
- Maintains timely and accurate data entry according to agency and departmental procedures.
- Develops organization of workload and schedule to meet department standards and goals.
- Develops and maintains partner relationships within the community through effective communication and impactful engagement.
- Conducts outreach efforts to spread awareness and identify opportunities to facilitate prevention education through tablings and partner events.
- Manages and maintains the social media page for the prevention program by consistently creating content to post in the story and the feed.
- Attends public meetings in the community for professional development and to further spread the WCJs mission.
- Participates in community partner meetings as directed by supervisor(s).
- Assists with training and supervision of prevention and advocacy volunteers/interns.
- Assists with implementing plans for program development.
- Participates in performing tasks necessary to achieve program goals and complete tasks by assigned date.
- Attends and participates regularly in team meetings, supervision meetings, "All-Staff" meetings, and retreats.
- Maintains all required training and certification to remain in good standing.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care & Sexual Violence Prevention - Demonstrates an understanding of sexual violence dynamics, risk factors and prevention strategies and familiarity with trauma-informed approaches and survivor-centered practices. Maintains an awareness of feminism and sensitivity to the societal issues of violence against women and marginalized communities.
- Community Outreach & Education Skills - Ability to deliver engaging educational presentations and workshops and partner with schools, organizations and community stakeholders.
- Communication & Interpersonal Abilities - Ability to discuss sensitive topics with empathy, professionalism, and cultural humility. Ability to foster trust and maintain appropriate boundaries.
- Program Implementation & Organizational Skills - Strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is 40 hours a week, with a typical schedule of Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. Occasional evening and weekend training may be scheduled. Work location is clean and fully climate controlled. Must be flexible in working hours to attend to emergency situations, meetings and presentations.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
