Position Summary:

The Victim Advocate is responsible for providing crisis intervention, advocacy, emotional support, and case coordination to domestic violence and sexual assault survivors and their loved ones at any stage of their recovery process. For survivors who report the assault to law enforcement, the Advocate will make every effort to simplify the process for them by informing them of their rights and options, assisting with obtaining information about their case when necessary, and accompanying them throughout criminal and administrative proceedings. For survivors who choose not to report to law enforcement, the Advocate will provide any other needed information, referrals, advocacy and services. The Advocate will collaborate with other community agencies to ensure that victims receive the most comprehensive services available. Assist with implementing plans and goals for program development.

Workplace/Educational Requirements:

High School Diploma required, BA or BS in Social Work, Counseling, Nursing, Psychology, Criminal Justice or related field and/ or equivalent experience preferred. Two years' experience in direct service preferred. Experience in sexual assault or domestic violence programs a plus, as well as bi-lingual.
